Topic: Love, Death & Robots [Animation, Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-Fi]
https://next-episode.net/love-death-and-robots
"Sentient dairy products, werewolf soldiers, robots gone wild, garbage monsters, cyborg bounty hunters, alien spiders and blood-thirsty demons from hell - all converge in eighteen NSFW animated stories." Presented by Tim Miller (Deadpool, ...) & David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, The Social Network, ...). Currently 8.7/10 at IMDb with 52k votes. The trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUFwunMKa4E is probably THE most hardcore (in more than one way) trailer I ever saw! Watched the first two episodes - great!

I've watched half of them so far and they go from pretty good to great. Overall it is a great collection of different genres and generally outstanding animation.

How David Fincher and Tim Miller's Heavy Metal Reboot Became Netflix's Love, Death & Robots Tim Miller & David Fincher? Oh hell yeah, without a doubt, this has been signed, sealed, and delivered directly to my next-episode watchlist!

Re: Love, Death & Robots [Animation, Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-Fi]
After watching the Ice Age episode recently (what a great idea!), today I watched the Alternate Histories episode: Want to see Hitler die in a variety of comically fantastic ways? Now you can. Welcome to Multiversity!
Soooooo funny!! This show is only present on 1727 watchlists... check it out!

Re: Love, Death & Robots [Animation, Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-Fi]
I highly recommend people watch Love, Death & Robots!! I enjoyed all 18 shorts, and a few of them are pure eye-candy!! My favorites are Sonnie's Edge, Suits, Beyond the Aquila Rift, Good Hunting, Shape-Shifters, Lucky 13, and Zima Blue. Funniest ones to me were Three Robots, When the Yogurt Took Over, The Dump, and Alternate Histories. What I love about LD&R is the fact that even the worst short is decent enough to watch since they're only 15 mins long, and wouldn't make much sense skipping through it.

I totally agree! I really hope they'll add another season.

In in some shorts they have really nice, photorealistic CGI/animation.

Yes, and not in a $100 million movie... amazing! Progress... gotta love it.

I personally found this show all style over substance. Visually, it's stunning in places, but as for the stories I thought they were largely meh.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like it that much. Still 8.7/10 at IMDb.

Somehow I never got around to watching the very last episode... until today! Really good, I'll probably watch some of the episodes again some day. I've rewatched the Hitler episode already.

Some were good, some were amazing, others were bad. On average, I would sort of agree with the current 8.6 in IMDB. Maybe a little lower.

I was really underwhelmed with the whole thing. So much hype which I thought was really unjustified. I thought some were ok, some were pretty bad, and some were terrible! Isn't it strange how we're all different?

What hype? Maybe you were in a bad mood when watching? Like Wizard said: "Some were good, some were amazing" - it is extremely unlikely for anyone with a taste for Comedy and Sci-Fi to (mostly) dislike this multi-faceted series.

Of course not, everyone is different. I like both comedy and sci fi, and I don't think I found any of LD&R funny. I watched it over a few days, I can't have been in a bad mood for the whole time. Just maybe some of it

Hehe, ok... then let's file your dislike for the show under "mysteries of the universe".

It probably says something about the quality of this show that I still remember all of the above episodes a year later.

Nah, I am inclined to agree. Most of them fell short of whatever they were trying to achieve for me. Not strictly bad, just kinda mediocre, even the memorable ones like When the Yogurt Took Over. Often the endings felt very abrupt and out of place. Still, a few I can mention positively:
The Witness - nothing about this was really good, but the concept was interesting Lucky 13 - I faintly remember this one being alright, at least in a self-contained way Zime Blue - this one was overall fairly good with an interesting ending Ice Age - entertaining, if barely so; why is there one non-animated episode in the mix, anyways? The Secret War - honorable mention because it was interesting to watch something where the Red Army are actually the good guys; I like different perspectives
On the other hand, some even outright annoyed me:
Blindspot - what was this, some saturday morning cartoon? Alternate Histories - a lot of things wrong with this one; if you do Hitler, please don't do slapstick
Will probably still watch season 2 though.

Interesting... so you didn't really like the show but still plan to watch the next season? As https://www.google.com/search?q=love+death+%26+robots shows it has a 96% thumbs up score, one of the highest I saw when searching for a show. And still a very good 8.5/10 at IMDb. You know what? I'm actually inspired to watch season 1 again right now! some_one wrote:Often the endings felt very abrupt
Well, they had to IMO, given the short length of each episode.

Not bad, just kinda mediocre. Will watch but not be all that excited about it. lighton wrote:Well, they had to IMO, given the short length of each episode.
"Abrupt", not "early". As in, felt like it wanted to go somewhere and then did not manage to get there in time, or at least rushed it. Just a lingering impression, really.
