Re: Ending or Canceled TV Shows for the 2023-24 Season
Deputy Cancelled at FOXFox is asking Deputy to turn in its badge and gun: The Stephen Dorff-led freshman drama won’t return for a second season, TVLine has learned. [...] Premiering in January, Deputy finished up its freshman run with a March 26 season finale. The cancellation caps its run at a total of 13 episodes. Deputy‘s low ratings played a role in its demise: Averaging not quite a 0.6 demo rating across 13 episodes (in Live+Same Day numbers), it ranked 11th among all Fox scripted programs, besting only Outmatched, the recently premiered Duncanville and the already cancelled Almost Family. In total viewers (3.7 million), however, it ranked fifth, trailing only the 9-1-1's, Last Man Standing and The Resident.

God Friended Me: Cancelled by CBS; No Season ThreeLooks like CBS is unfriending God Friended Me. CBS just announced they’ve cancelled the TV show after two seasons, Deadline reports. The show revolves around a thoughtful and outspoken podcaster named Miles (Brandon Micheal Hall) whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from a user named “God.” The cast also includes Violett Beane, Joe Morton, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie, and Erica Gimpel, with Adam Goldberg and Jessica Lu recurring. The second season of God Friended Me is averaging a 0.67 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.24 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 25% in the demo by down by 20% in viewership. That’s quite a dip in the ratings for the CBS TV show.

Turn Up Charlie: Cancelled by Netflix; No Season Two for Idris Elba SeriesNetflix is turning down Turn Up Charlie. The streaming service has canceled the comedy after just one season, as reported by Newschain. The series was created and stars Idris Elba, and it follows “a has-been DJ trying to turn his career around.” Elba was already working on ideas for a second season of Turn Up Charlie. He said the following: “It’s very exciting. I’m involved with the script creation, which is mainly seeding stories. There are characters that have their own narrative strands now.” Netflix does not normally release ratings for its series, but in our on-site viewer voting, the eight episodes scored an average of 9.42.

DreamWorks Animation announced the popular reboot of the classic 80s cartoon is premiering its fifth and final season on May 15th. ▼Spoiler Do you enjoy this series and haven't finished/watched Season 4 yet? For those who are up to speed (or simply don't care), click below to reveal the real spoiler. ▼Spoiler As the previous season ended with the looming threat of Horde Prime and the loss of She-Ra and the Sword of Protection, this upcoming season will explore how Adora, the Princesses of Power and the rest of the rebellion will overcome this adversity and face their most formidable foe yet. . Source I have a lot of complicated feelings about this news: On the one hand I love She-Ra and the Princesses of Power the story, the character arcs, morality plays, the lore... it's like a modern day Avatar: The Last Airbender. I could/would love to watch new adventures of She-Ra & Co for years to come. That being said (like The Magicians) She-Ra isn't being canceled in the middle of the story (will I ever forgive NETFLIX for Insatiable, probably not) and in fact She-Ra is probably going to be ending at just the right time. They'll have completed the story of freedom against the Evil Horde and won't suffer like so many 'cash cow' series which Networks won't let die and fans watch as they rot on the vine. Continuing to hold as they prop up on the skeletons of completely lifeless adventures with characters so completely secure in 'plot armor' as it make everything one bland mess. So yeah, I'll take "wanting more" over "wanting an end to the misery' but still I Will Miss the Best Friends Squad. I hope to see the writers and creators of this series go on to bigger things, even if I can't imagine anything that could be better... and of course I'll Miss You Most of All Catra!

‘Tell Me A Story’: No Season 3 On CBS All Access, First Two Seasons Acquired By the CWKevin Williamson’s horror anthology series Tell Me a Story will not return to CBS All Access for a third installment. The two existing seasons of the show, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, have been acquired by the CW. This will mark the TV network debut of Tell Me a Story. It also will mark the return to the CW for The Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Williamson and star Paul Wesley who stars in both seasons of the CBS All Access series, as does Danielle Campbell of The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. Seasons 1 & 2 of Tell Me a Story will continue to be available on CBS All Access across platforms, with the CW licensing the first two seasons for a second-window run. It is not clear yet whether Tell Me a Story‘s first season would run on the CW in the summer or be kept for fall as new seasons of broadcast networks’ current series may not be ready for a fall launch because of the coronavirus-related production shutdown. The CW is expected to unveil its fall schedule on Thursday. The second season of Tell Me a Story will remain exclusively on CBS All Access until Q4 2020. The CW will be able to run it anytime after that. Because of the limited footprint of CBS All Access, the CW airings would expose Tell Me a Story to a wider audience. This is a rare broadcast window for a CBS All Access original series. Last summer, Season 1 of The Good Fight ran on CBS.

‘The Purge’ & ‘Treadstone’ Canceled By USA Network Amid Programming Strategy ShiftUSA Network has opted not to proceed with new seasons of its high-profile drama series The Purge and Treadstone. Both were based on popular Universal movie franchises, The Purge and Bourne, respectively. The Purge was canceled after two seasons and Treadstone after one. Both dramas were expensive while not drawing enough eyeballs on linear television. (The Purge was a breakout in Season 1, but its linear viewership was down 50% in Season 2, while remaining a solid demo performer). For USA sibling UCP, the studio behind both series, that could not be offset by streaming deals the company had with Amazon Prime. The Purge and Treadstone join USA original drama series Dare Me, which also recently was canceled after one season. This is part of an overall programming shift at the NBCU network away from ongoing scripted series toward more live and unscripted programming, along with “eventized” scripted projects. This is a programming strategy followed by a number of basic cable networks, including Turner, A+E and ViacomCBS nets, as it is becoming increasingly challenging for premium scripted series to be sustained by the linear ad-supported cable business model.

Outmatched: Cancelled; No Season Two for FOX SitcomLooks like Outmatched is out. FOX has revealed that the TV show has been cancelled after only one season. [...] Over the course of its first season, Outmatched only managed an average rating of 0.56 in the 18-49 demo and 2.38 million viewers. That makes Outmatched one of FOX‘s lowest-rated new series for the 2019-20 season. Fellow Thursday night sitcom Last Man Standing, which had much better ratings, has been renewed for a ninth season. The other resident of the night, freshman drama Deputy, was cancelled in April.

‘Schooled’, ‘Bless This Mess, ‘Single Parents’, ‘Emergence’ & ‘Kids Say The Darndest Things’ Canceled By ABCABC has canceled freshman drama Emergence and sophomore comedies Bless This Mess, Single Parents and Schooled as well as the new Kids Say The Darndest Things revival with Tiffany Haddish. These cancelations are part of a big round of renewal decisions at the Disney-owned network today, which included the pickup of 13 current series for its 2020-21 slate. While the cancellation of Emergence was considered likely, bubble comedies Single Parents, Bless This Mess and The Goldbergs’ spinoff Schooled all getting the axe was surprising, especially given the auspices involved. Two other ABC bubble shows, freshmen For Life and The Baker and the Beauty, remain in limbo.

Re: Ending or Canceled TV Shows for the 2023-24 Season
The Rookie got some good news thanks to ABC ordering a renewal, which means John Nolan and Co. will be back for a third season. The show has gotten respectable ratings over the years, but the official order for The Rookie to return in the 2020-2021 TV season should come as a relief for fans. As it turns out, star Nathan Fillion is pretty excited as well. In the wake of the renewal for Season 3 (which came along with some bad news for several other ABC shows), Nathan Fillion took to social media to share his reaction to The Rookie returning for a third season:

‘Cops’ Canceled at Paramount Network“Cops” has officially been canceled at Paramount Network. Definitive news that the series won’t return comes only four days after Variety exclusively reported that it had been pulled from the schedule. “‘Cops’ is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return,” a Paramount Network spokesperson said in a statement. The original decision to hold “Cops” was spurred by nationwide protests against police brutality following the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police officers. “Cops” originally launched on Fox in 1989 and has come under fire in recent years for its depicts law enforcement and questionable behind the scenes practices. The series was the subject of a recent podcast hosted by Dan Taberski, “Running from Cops,” which chronicled hundreds of episodes of the show. Taberski and his team detailed instances where people were coerced into signing waivers and how production allows police to edit and remove anything that might paint them in a negative light. Fox aired 25 seasons of “Cops,” pairing it with “America’s Most Wanted” on Saturday nights for 14 years. “Most Wanted” moved to Lifetime in 2011 and was eventually canceled. “Cops,” meanwhile, got a new lease on life in 2013 when Spike TV ordered new episodes and paired them with repeats. (Spike was rebranded as Paramount Network in 2018.) At the same time as Paramount Network pulled “Cops” from its plans, A&E removed a similar show in “Live PD” from its schedule “out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives.” “Live PD” is currently the number one series on cable on Friday and Saturday nights, and follows cops and sheriffs — live, in real time, as they patrol various cities and counties across the country.

That doesn't sound too good... I've checked out Cops in the past but didn't like it. Wasn't real enough somehow for a "Reality" show. scorpius074 wrote:A&E removed a similar show in “Live PD” from its schedule “out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives.” “Live PD” is currently the number one series on cable on Friday and Saturday nights, and follows cops and sheriffs — live, in real time, as they patrol various cities and counties across the country.
I hope Live PD survives. https://www.fox13news.com/news/live-pd- … doning-you sounds promising. It's almost real time (so they won't accidentally show someone who just died in a traffic accident) and the episodes I've watched felt totally authentic. The bleeping can be quite funny when someone who's drunk really isn't happy with the police showing up.

Live PD: Cancelled; No Season Five for A&E TV Series (Reaction)It’s not often that a channel will cancel its highest-rated series. Less than a month ago, A&E was touting the Live PD TV show’s great ratings. Today, the cable channel cancelled the series — at least for now. Debuting in October 2016, Live PD provides a unique look at the policing of America. The series follows diverse police departments from across the country in real-time as they patrol their communities. Using dash cams along with fixed rig and handheld cameras, the series captures the work of urban and rural police forces on a typical Friday and Saturday night. Host Dan Abrams and commentators Tom Morris Jr. and Sergeant Sean “Sticks” Larkin offer insights into what audiences are seeing in real-time, bouncing between the featured police departments and offering an inside look at each live episode. In early May, Live PD was picked up for 160 additional episodes and was scheduled to air its 300th episode on Saturday, June 6th. On Friday, June 5th, It was announced the series had been pulled off the air for the weekend. “Out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives, in consultation with the departments we follow, and in consideration for the safety of all involved, we have made the decision not to broadcast Live PD this weekend,” A&E said in a statement.

Lincoln Rhyme Cancelled at NBCLincoln Rhyme‘s trail just ran cold: NBC has cancelled the freshman serial-killer drama, TVLine has learned. The show’s Season 1 finale, which now will serve as its series finale, aired on Friday, March 13. Across its 10-episode freshman run, Lincoln Rhyme averaged a 0.47 demo rating and 3.7 million total viewers, just a tick below what The Blacklist did in Friday’s leadoff spot this past fall. Out of the 13 dramas that NBC has aired this TV season, it ranked No. 10 in the demo (ahead of Council of Dads, Good Girls and Blindspot’s recently launched final season) and ninth in total audience. Lincoln Rhyme was one of two cancellations made by NBC on Wednesday. The network also gave the ax to freshman comedy Perfect Harmony.

Perfect Harmony: Cancelled by NBC; No Season Two for Bradley Whitford Comedy SeriesThe music is over for Perfect Harmony. NBC has cancelled the 2019-20 TV show so there won’t be a second season.
