Some interesting historical background info around the name.

And at 5:25 (https://youtu.be/9oWUmuXahCY?t=325) they mention https://next-episode.net/watchmen and Arrival (2016), but the current Westworld season also reminds me of https://next-episode.net/devs (and/or vice versa). smile

I am terribly, terribly, terribly sorry but episode 4, for some reason

just felt like a chore. And possibly even a bit shark-jumpy. It may have crept up on me, but within the span of 1 episode, aside from the Jesse Pinkman storyline, the show somehow seemed to divest itself of all intensity by being too clever for its own good.

  • Ed Harris going all season 2 of Mr Robot.

  • The big bad french baddie is just a no-fucks-given storyline.

  • "OOOOHHHHHH, we're ALLL Dolores."

Re: Westworld

Sorry you didn't, I liked 3x4. smile

The "deeming William incompetent/ voting shares transfer" ploy was done nicely! smile

Re: Westworld

3x5 was weird (a bit too much Genre for my taste cool), but I still mostly liked it. smile

'Westworld' cocreator Jonathan Nolan breaks down Sunday's 'Genre' episode and the inspiration for each movie theme

And I learned something new from that article:

As Nolan points out, Westworld and the other Delos parks aren't accessible to just anyone. A daily visit to the park starts at $40,000 per day, with vacation packages that total up to $6 million.

Re: Westworld

Seem to recall them mentioning in earlier season it was 30K for a weekend?

I'm fairly certain now; Westworld has shit the bed. There's just no gravitas to it any more. It lurches along from clunky scene to clunky scene and all with that fuckign dreadful 80's synth soundtrack clamouring along for the ride and seemingly trying to jarr you out of every goddamn moment. Sitting through episodes 4 and 5 has felt like some sort of pop culture obligation. Dare I fucking say it but if the show didnt have seasons 1 and 2 in its resume, and was launched as a standalone from season 3, the thing would be getting panned as another pretty looking hi-tech scifi thingy with forgettably plastic performances

cool

Re: Westworld

Season one is nearly perfection in and of itself.

Season two was extremely convoluted, essentially ruining the enjoyment and its impact.

Season three is hearkening back to the balance of intrigue and actual plot movement of season one, putting it in a solid second place. but Serac is literally the worse of villains

Re: Westworld

'Westworld' Renewed for Season 4 at HBO. Showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan have a pre-existing deal in place that keeps them with the sci-fi drama for up to six seasons.

Why? I've seen far, far worse. smile

Re: Westworld

Ok, I've watched the finale, 3x8. I was slightly disappointed, I liked it a bit less than the other 3x episodes. But still, it's a really good show! smile

The end scene (before the closing credits) totally reminded me of the Fight Club end scene! big_smile

And then the two scenes after the closing credits... damn! big_smile

I know right.  Where was house-keeping big_smile

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

Died 100 or 200 years earlier? cool

For him to still sit there, the A.I.'s predictions must have been way off and the end of (most of?) civilization must have come way quicker than it was announced - there was no time for someone to call the cops. Maybe the area was contaminated soon after he 'shut off'? I wonder if in the next season the hosts have taken over or at least created their own little bubble, and humans live in something like the New York from the I Am Legend (2007) movie...

And how did his power source last that long? Was the power source ever discussed?

Next season could also be great! smile
