and what a treat it is, "Counterpart" quality at least.

Counterpart is really good, but it's not as multi-faceted and has less WTF moments for sure! cool

Counterpart is a solid steak, Watchmen a full 4 course dinner from an adventurous and creative chef. big_smile

OK noted, there is no point arguing, obviously you cannot comprehend mastery of Counterpart yet. I hope you will one day.

Ha, speak for yourself, I'm still trying to figure out when certain events transpired lols. The chicken or the egg? Jon's mind left mines scrambled...

Spoiler

Angela: So, who at the precinct told you to come over here?

Dr. Manhattan: I haven't spoken to anyone at the precinct.

Angela: Then who told you about my parents?

Dr. Manhattan: You did.

Angela: I did not.

Dr. Manhattan: You will. In about 20 minutes.

Angela: But I didn't tell you yet?

Dr. Manhattan: Correct.

Angela: Then how did you already know?

Dr. Manhattan: (slight pause as he leans forward in his seat) I'm Dr. Manhattan.

Angela: Obviously.

Dr. Manhattan: You're dubious?

Angela: Oh, I'm not dubious. I'm just wondering why the actual Dr. Manhattan is wearing a Dr. Manhattan mask.

Dr. Manhattan: I don't wanna be recognized.

lol

You have to hand it to Damon Lindelof, the guy's a genius. He managed to explain an impressive number of mysteries in one episode. The only catch? You had to sort through all of the timelines and narratives laid out to make sense of it all. The timeline of the entire series was essentially laid out by Dr. Manhattan, while filling in the gaps and nearly all of the missing context along the way. Now that's what I call, making an entrance.

We now know what Dr. Manhattan has been up to, where Adrian Veidt has been held up at, what's up with the clones, the reason we saw the squids in the series premiere, and that the Seventh Kavalry aren't just shotgun-toting rednecks, to name a few. More importantly, it doesn’t explain why Dr. Manhattan (a character who seemingly saw all this coming) didn’t get out of the way of the cannon blast, but there are some theories. We know he has a weird relationship to fate. He sees everything coming, including his own actions, so maybe the reason he didn't step out of the way is because, well, he didn’t step out of the way. It’s also possible that this is all part of some master plan that will ultimately be revealed in the finale. There are also tachyons involved, and as both the comic and the tv show have established, they’re the one thing in the universe that's kryptonite to Dr. Manhattan’s omniscience.

That was an epic 40 min conversation (runtime) that was literally all over the place. Interesting choice of music too playing in the background; particularly Rhapsody In Blue and The Blue Danube Waltz. This is Damon Lindelof at his best. So far, most of Watchmen had Lindelof straying outside of his comfort zone, with just enough WTF moments to remind us that it is, indeed, a Lindelof series. However, A God Walks into Abar takes off the gloves and goes into full Lindelof-beast mode. I wouldn't be too surprised if this episode eventually lands him (also have to give credit to Jeff Jensen) an Emmy, Guild, or Hugo nomination (or all three), like with The Constant (also have to give credit to Carlton Cuse).

I found episode 1x08 to be that great, and I apologize for sounding like a broken record, but this series just keeps getting better and better with each passing episode. I've been thoroughly entertained up to this point, and we still have one more to go. The finale is shaping up to be a big one. smile

Re: Watchmen

Just watched ep 8, and I don't know if I've seen a single episode this good in any show. At least top 5 episode ever?
Soo well executed, I was glued to the screen.

Yes, that Lost episode was great - as were those "I already know this person" flashback scenes that multiple characters had, spread out over several episodes.

Re: Watchmen

So it's over.

Damn that was good.

They really did manage to bring it all together.

Re: Watchmen

Watchmen wrapped its season on Sunday night, and fans may be wondering if a second season is in the works. Damon Lindelof, the man behind the series, spoke about the possibility of a season two in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and he is not saying no to the possibility entirely. He just needs the right “idea” to come to him for him to bring the series back.

Re: Watchmen

I just finished the season finale, it was good - just quite different from what I expected! cool

And I found something cool when I researched What Fell From The Sky?:

Spoiler

So the one question (other than who is lube man) that still feels unanswered, and I can’t FIND any answers to, is “What fell onto the farm that Lady Trieu bought?”

Lets start by getting two things out of the way: The scene is very much an intentional nod to Superman

-the family name is the Clarks

-they cant have kids, live on a farm

-something fell from the sky into their farm

-As watchmen is defined by turning the superhero genre on its head, so too is this classic moment flipped when Trieu buys the farm and collects the space object.

Another thing out of the way: The whole bit is a big discussion on the cycle of life and impregnation.

-the Clarks are on an egg farm

-the lady is infertile

-they get a baby

-the object visually looks like a sperm does it not? A sperm... falling onto an egg farm... right when they get their baby.

https://tvline.com/2019/12/16/watchmen- … ommentary/ :

So there’s almost no way HBO doesn’t want more Watchmen, right? But here’s the transdimensional-squid-sized rub: From the start, Lindelof has said that his take on the much-loved Watchmen universe likely would be self-contained and limited to nine episodes the way that the comics’ story was fully told in 12 issues; in interviews tied to the season finale, he reiterated that sentiment, stating that he currently has no ideas for future seasons of the show.

sad

Thanks for that link, scorpius074, that actually sounds more promising. smile
