Haters gonna hate! cool

It was only somewhat of a filler episode, I enjoyed it almost as much as the other episodes.

Haha. I was thinking, Dang I just finished ep04 ; wished I would have seen that advisory. But really, it wasn't that much of filler. Gave some pertinent background shtuff...

Yes, too much sex for xzeal, but a good episode. cool

Looking forward to the remaining episodes.

P.S.: IMDb rating climbed to 4.6 - seems that the 7 and 8 votes gain momentum.

It's been enough time for people to see more episodes and realise it gets better and actually has some interesting ideas. Even if the cast of stupid children put people off. They should probably rethink the ages of the cast for next time, it seemed to really wind people up.

I love Katee and all but this was painful to watch. The final episode shouted of The Orville (Kaylon invasion), lol.

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]

Through episode 5 now and it really does get better.

But is it just me or are like 90% of the plotlines caused by having completely insufficient containment protocols for everything and following the few they do have only up to the point where anyone is slightly inconvenienced?

Hehe... there's some truth there. cool

It's a good show as long as you don't expect everything to be totally realistic. wink

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]

I just finished the show. I enjoyed watching it. smile Hope they'll order another season, there's still a lot to explore.

P.S.: IMDb rating climbed to 4.8 now, it really deserves more (even if it has some flaws). smile

I just finished a couple days ago as well. I'll definitely watch a Season 2.

Yeah, they blew the lid right off in the season finale; so many possibilities and avenues for them to explore their second time around. smile

This is why I don't put too much stock in ratings. Take it with a grain of salt and go north and south has always been my approach. If it's real low, go up some. If it's real high, take it down a notch. People were dumping all over this show after only watching the first two episodes. Some people had their minds made up because they were offended by the inaccuracies of the science. Some had a problem with the diversified cast and the general age group. Most of the comments I read on several forums were comical at best, and some of those users were just feeding the monster with a fear of getting flamed for having a difference of opinion. I definitely wouldn't give Another Life any Emmy considerations, but I thought it was much better than it was initially received. Much better than the IMDb rating indicates—with or without the re-jigging process. Once the dust settled, and people actually sat back to finish watching the rest of the series, they probably came to that same conclusion.

They do everything wrong - all the tropes.

I had the impression they were deliberately making us groan and shout at the screen for all the stupid things they did and should have been covered by Space 101. I mean they even referenced Alien heavily.

Yeah... and what I don't get at all is people rating stuff they haven't even seen! Leave a bad rating because you don't agree with the concept or actors?

Interesting theory! smile Imagine they all had a laugh while shooting... "Hey X, your character should come across more stupid"... "Hey Y, we need to think of another illogical and dangerous action for you when faced with danger." cool

Heavily?

Spoiler

I only recall the spine scene. What did I miss?

Also, I like the fact that they have additional crew members in cryosleep. Not only can they play one of the shortest roles ever (like in the last episode), but that way they can maintain the required crew count without having to overcrowd the initial crew.

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]

I thought the whole thing was meh.  Copied so many ideas from other sci-fi shows and films, it was embarrassing.

2020.  Meh.

By now the show climbed to a 4.9 IMDB rating - with 17.3% of votes being 1/10, which is of course silly. smile

This renewal probably shows that Netflix' internal numbers paint a different picture than the IMDb ratings/reviews. If people would have mostly dropped the show after the first or second episode, Netflix wouldn't have renewed it. Now we'll get another season, Lost in Space (2018) season 2 starts before xmas, and Altered Carbon was renewed too. Life is good. smile

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]

That and/or they have confidence in what's planned for next season.

I think there's a good story to be told in this show anyway.
