Re: The Boys

Ah crap ...the guy of Banshee...of course!! Didn't even occur to me lol

That was a great series, for someone who had never heard of it before I thoroughly enjoyed it!! The only disappointment is that it's over....is there more story in the graphic novels? ie: can they make a series 2?

Re: The Boys

The Boys have already been renewed for a second season. There's definitely more to tell, the graphic novels ran for about four years.

The Boys is Now One of Amazon's Most-Watched Shows
http://epicstream.com/news/NicoParungo/ … ched-Shows

Amazon’s The Boys continues to reap in the rewards, not only gaining critical acclaim but also proving to be one of the most-watched shows on the platform. It seems like the series will be just as well-known as shows like American Gods (http://next-episode.net/american-gods)* and Good Omens (https://next-episode.net/good-omens)*, which also show on the streaming service. While no raw numbers were released, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said that the show has surpassed their expectations.

Re: The Boys

Good to hear, and well deserved. I guess with the early renewal they knew it was inevitable.

Yes! I wonder if they do early private showings for TV shows, like some movie companies do, to get customer feedback before any last edits/ before streaming the show.

Now I know why. yikes Just finished E01. Interesting story, good acting, great special effects, but damn, the show is seriously fucked up! cool

Will continue watching another day. Temporary rating: "good" - less than the current 9.2 IMDb rating.

Re: The Boys

Finished the last episode. What an ending! big_smile

Turned out to be a great show, they had an above average budget for sure! smile

Re: The Boys

Nice season finale. Should get real interesting in Season 2. Interesting departure from the graphic novel.

I just finished also. I have a feeling the next Season will be even better.

Re: The Boys

The comix series had over 70 issues and there were more than a dozen story arcs the TV show could work with.

Damn! That's a lot... Guess we won't run into another Game of Thrones/ author-needs-to-write-faster situation here. cool

Re: The Boys

This show came out of nowhere for me...never heard of it...not watched any trailer or anything..I'm pretty sure it was scorpius074 having this show in his signature (Last watched) ...and I gave ep 1 a go... I love superhero-shows, but then again I'm beginning to get a bit "full". I've stopped watching many of them (Supergirl, Arrow, Flash)

But MY GOD WHAT a treat this show is!!!! (I've just finished ep.5). I wholeheartedly second all the positive things said about this show in this thread.

Thanks to scorpius for giving me the heads up!!!! big_smile

I could watch an hour infomercial if Karl Urban is int it. He is simply one of my favourite Actors. He rocked in Star Trek, Almost Human, Thor, Judge Dread etc etc.

Yeah, a good actor for sure!

That's what we get when they don't have to produce for public television anymore! big_smile

Re: The Boys

From http://www.cancelledscifi.com/2019/09/1 … -and-more/ :

[...]
Amazon’s superhero series The Boys (based on the Garth Ennis / Darick Robertson comic of the same name) debuted on Amazon’s Prime Video in July and has proven to be a hit for the streaming service. Amazon does not share its viewing numbers, but Parrot Analytics has tracked viewership and determined that the show achieved over 50 million Demand Expressions (DEX) in its first week. DEX represents the total audience demand being expressed for a title, within a market.

According to numbers from the analytic company, the Marvel superhero shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist saw higher DEX numbers their first week, but those quickly trailed off. The Boys actually improved in its second week and has done a better job of holding on to its audience in subsequent weeks. The Boys also outpaced Netflix’s superhero series The Umbrella Academy and has done a better job of retaining its audience than that show.

Re: The Boys

Weird to read Homelander and Urban are both from my hometown of NZ. Best moment was Homelander sniping "nice accent" to Urban as the poor guys accent wildly veered between Aussie, Ireland, Cockney, NZ and some possibly made-up region of England.

I have a vague ultra stiffy for the mega baddie Immortan Joe mega milf matron...
