Yeah, come to me, I'll give you my 50# compound bow, show me these tricks That guy is some ninja nerd, but this was a real thing: https://youtu.be/3PduumzgFNo?t=104 - they probably also managed to shoot some arrows off the horse in close combat, but realistically one miss and a guy running towards you with a knife will gut you before you will manage to reload. Plus just in movies somebody dies instantly from an arrow. In real life death is instant only if you hit heart or something like that, because an arrow kills by slicing and bleeding you out. These bows are around 26#, they can do damage if you are naked, basic armour will either stop the arrow or reduce the damage - and again, knife in the stomach Archery tag is a fun sport, there you also can see in a real life the mechanics and probability of hitting a human with these weak bows. We played it recently and I managed to catch an arrow mid air

Hehe... my numbers are different, but I'm also far behind.

The Sopranos, Stranger Things, The Wire, Twin Peak (new seasons), Sharp Objects, House of Cards I skipped as well. From all these Killing Eve and Breaking Bad are excellent. Lost is nice, but with a disappointing-why-the-hell-I-watched-6-seasons ending, Walking Dead you can watch fast forwarding all soap opera, will save a lot of otherwise wasted time - some episodes I have watched in 3 minutes

Yeah, Lost should have had a better ending. But guys, don't skip over https://next-episode.net/the-wire ! It still has a much-deserved 9.3 IMDb rating, awesome show! g371 wrote:I don't even know how challenging it is, because it did not pass my boredom filter I just saw later in forums etc. how they are killing off 100 characters, some completely black episodes where you cannot see anything and decided not to bother Maybe someday.
GoT had exactly ONE too-dark episode...

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?
I tried a couple episodes like a year ago, could not find entertaining all that black gangsta nonsense (I laugh in rap songs when I hear about their heartbreaking hood life), probably it looked differently back in 2002. Same with Sopranos - checked a couple episodes and meh, by now all that Italian gansta stuff is already a cliché.

I feel like I will get to The Wire someday. I AM from Baltimore, after all. Southland and Shades of Blue have been on my To Watch list for a while. What do you think of those ? GOT... I doubt it, but who knows. Spartacus, Rome, and The Last Kingdom, served me well enough I suspect.

Haha, yeah, then it's even more of a must! kurschnextepisode wrote:Southland and Shades of Blue have been on my To Watch list for a while. What do you think of those ?
I've missed Southland completely, and while the ratings look promising the trailer doesn't appeal to me. Shades of Blue trailer doesn't do it for me either, feels like the show has too much emphasis on the drama part.

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?
I watched the first season of GoT in two 5 hour sittings and absolutely loved it. So I decided to wait until Season 2 was out to watch that one. Still haven't started season two I've yet to see Dexter, Sopranos, Stranger Things, The Wire, House of Cards and Breaking Bad. Don't know if I'll ever start them. I'm watching all the Marvel series in order (spoiler free and chronological) and am about two years behind. I was also watching all the DC series the same way, but put those on hold a year or two ago. I really liked Arrow and the rest, but this just all became too much and too bleh to watch. And these studios keep adding more series that by default get pushed to the back of the queue, so it's a pretty hopeless endeavor unless you watch a lot more TV than I do

Oh yeah Dexter was another highly rated Series I watched only 2 episodes of. Fringe only 2-3 episodes but Orphan Black I think I put on hold after the 1st Season. It's interesting, the ones that grab you and you watch till completion while others are left alone.... Good choice with the Marvel series, IMO. I don't think I've seen any DC at all. Just all the Defenders, and I tried to watch in order as well.

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?
You can look at the list under here what I am watching. But these are the ones I watch right now: Another Life, Legion, The 100, Blood & Treasure, Younger, Suits, Private Eyes, Pearson, Krypton, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Elementary, Agents of SHIELD, Killjoys, The Rook, Poldark, Pennyworth, Instinct, and Whose Line is it Anyway. I watch episode for episode as chronologically to the airing time that I can manage (in Europe). I use the app SeriesGuide for that (has similarities to NE, but has other qualities). If I don't start a show within 4-5 episodes of the first season, I can forget about it. Some exceptions for Netflix and like. I don't like to binge, so if there is a show on Netflix, I mingle it with the others. For example : I have found out that I have to watch 3 shows each day (not more) until the fall season come. Then I watch Another Life as the third one each day. Some days life gets in the way, and I don't watch the third show at all, but it is ok. When AL is finished, I will watch 3 "ordinary" shows.

So would it be considered "usual" to be watching up to 10 shows (episodes) in a week ? Or is it normally limited to around just 5, like you're keeping up with now ? Maybe of those "55", you alternate different shows in and out from week to week, in addition to your 'regulars' ?

Haha, it depends on each own definition of normal. Everybody has their own choices what they do with their lives, for somebody maybe it is to watch TV every waking minute, others don't watch anything at all. I consider it a waste of time and unhealthy to spend countless hours on the couch. I personally get time for that by not doing other things like I could not be bothered to go to theatre or some music festivals. In summer in general I try to watch TV as less as possible, sometimes don't watch anything for a month - to save time for a bunch of weather dependant sports I do and compensate for the winter couch potato lifestyle So all I can say is calculate your own "normal", based on all factors in your own life And don't forget that sedentary lifestyle is killing you and reducing the amount of TV shows you will see in your life

Oh um sorry mate, I didn't say "NORMAL", nor was that my intended meaning. I said "usual", as in referring to your usual or Typical viewing habits. While the philosophical perspective is certainly of value and not to be ignored, it's not something I'm presently concerned about or need guidance with. As I mentioned before, I didn't watch television at all for over 15 years. Still don't own a TV or have 'cable'. I've been in the tree removal business for 18 years. The vast majority of that duration required 12 hours/day, 6 days a week, outdoor work in all weather conditions, climbing up to 100 ft with chainsaws and gear, and a general physically demanding lifestyle. We used to sell T-shirts that said, "Your Yard is Our Gym". Now that I'm "old", I don't climb too much anymore, but stay in shape by playing with my grandkids and chasing my wife. Anyhow, my question was fairly specific regarding how many of those 55, do you end up watching per week, in addition to your 5 regulars ? Your input and counsel did somewhat address your typical viewing habits but not definitively. It sounds like it varies from season to season for you, with purposeful limits in fair weather months. Is it presently "weather friendly" where you are ? Are we in archery-cricket-outside mode or couch-lounge mode ? Don't worry, your answer will in no way, shape, or form influence my own watching habits. I'm comfortable with my limitations and consumption. I'm also glad to hear you value activity and balance. I'm just curious about members of this forum, cuz there seems to be a wealth of knowledge about an abundance of shows. Like you said, some of those Series have over 100 episodes and require commitment. I suspect one would have to stay vigilant over the years to keep up, and since I haven't been, I must now be very selective. Btw, I propose absolutely NO condemnation or judgment toward any super avid TV watchers and their personal choices. I'm just being curious, that's all. Peace.

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?
Like many of you I've been re-watching old TV shows, most recently White Collar and wow what a difference watching in 4K. After giving it some thought, I realize I'm into a lot of shows even though I thought I wasn't, it just doesn't feel like many shows, because they are so short, with most of them having around 10 episodes per season, and they can be binge watched in a day, and my level of interest is only moderate for about 75% of them. TV watching is different these days because before there was a show per day that I was totally invested in watching, that would air throughout the entire year with around 20-25 episodes, but now that doesn't really exist for anything good. Here's my list as of March 1, 2020: 1. Bless This Mess - Current favorite. 2. Picard 3. Barry 4. The Mandalorian 5. Better Call Saul 6. Homeland 7. Brooklyln 99 8. Lost in Space 9. Stranger Things 10. You 11. Chef's Table 12. The OA 13. The Orville 14. Curb Your Enthusiasm 15. Sneaky Pete 16. The Grand Tour 17. Counterpart 18. Friends from College 19. Russian Doll 20. Altered Carbon There are lots of shows that I've tried for a few episodes, but couldn't get into: -Mr. Mercedes -Man in the High Castle -Ozark -Dispatches from Elsewhere -Succession -The Crown -Outlander many others. It's not a total wasteland out there on TV, it's just that seasons aren't as long, and the stories aren't quite as inspired as they once were, at least in my opinion. I'm always hopeful someone will produce something inspired that lasts for generations. We really were spoiled in the 2000's.

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?
My best pick for quarantine is The plot against America on HBO - Legitimately one of the best tv shows airing right now. Every scene is measured and important. Characters meant to be hated are so hate-able you want to leap into the screen and punch them bloody. It may seem exaggerated to some people but every scene of it feels true to someone who is watching his country slowly sliding into fascism. Other than that been having a fun time watching the mix of old and new shows on different channels and Netflix like Wisting, Giri/Haji, Better Call Saul, Condor, Man in the High Castle, Westworld, Ozark, His Dark Materials, Temple and my list keeps on expanding

Stuff has changed since this post. I took on way too many shows last fall, so now I watch 114 shows. I am now in the week after Valentines Day and have over 200 shows in my VLC-list, and more added (and subtracted) each day. I hope I finish during summer, but most shows will start later than normal this year (because of you know what), so I will manage to catch up. I need to be more critical of the shows I take on. I am current on Outlander, Westworld and When Calls the Heart because "everybody" is talking about them.

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?
Great List! I'm not a fan of all these series but I'm sure my list, right now, is at least as long if not longer... so much time with the quarantine on I honestly feel like I've watched everything, though clearly I haven't. I'm not sure I agree with you about 'nothing inspired being out there'... I honestly feel like we're in a new Golden Age of series... so much more interesting and inventive series out there and more from abroad. We have so much content it's like we're soaking in small screen media. I've been sad when the P.T.B. (AKA corporate fool) cancel fantastic shows like Insatiable or Great News but the thing is there's still so much more to watch. And a lot of it is really excellent: Westworld, Schitt's Creek, Mixed-ish, Mythic Quest, DuckTails, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Dead Girls Detective Agency, Short Treks, The Expanse, Penny Dreadful, Mrs. Maisel, For All Mankind, Grace and Frankie etc... I destroyed Barry (what a crazy fun show) just the other day then took a shot with Dave and, after an iffy start, found it to be an amazing series with a lot to say... really just soooo much is going on! Speaking of 'a lot going on' Dispatches from Elsewhere is also quite a series, I can understand why it might be a bit much for folks but it was so dreamy and inventive I can't stop watching it. I also have a shameful secrete, which I will share with y'all, my current guilty pleasure is re-watching Hart of Dixie, damn the charm of that show and it's Stars Hollow of the South... Happily I'm almost done with it Stay Safe Y'all! paisley1 wrote:Like many of you I've been re-watching old TV shows, most recently White Collar and wow what a difference watching in 4K.
