Topic: The Boys
https://next-episode.net/the-boys
Based on the graphic novel The Boys, which ran from 2008 to 2012, the show is set in a world where superheroes have run amok and get involved in reckless behavior, potentially jeopardizing the safety of the world. The titular "The Boys" is a division of the CIA that watches over the superheroes to make sure they stay in line, and when necessary, kill them. AKA: Пацаны (Russia) Tagline: Never Meet Your Heroes Genre: Action | Superhero | Dark Comedy | Dramedy Developed by: Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen Country of Origin: USA Executive Producer(s): Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Eric Kripke, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, James Weaver Production Location(s): Toronto, Ontario, Canada Episode Count: 8 Runtime: 60 mins (per episode) Aspect Ratio: 2.39:1 Camera: RED Weapon 8K VV Monstro Production Company(s): Sony Pictures Television | Amazon Studios | Point Grey Pictures | Original Film Certification: TV-MA Original Network: Amazon Prime Video The Boys was adapted for TV by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, Chace Crawford, and Kyra Sedgwick. The Boys takes place in a world where superheroes exist and selfishly exploit their powers for personal gain under the guise of helping others. The Boys has yet to premiere and already it's making casting decisions for season 2—if season 2 ends up getting greenlit. Deadline reported on Friday that You're the Worst actor Aya Cash is in talks for the role of Stormfront. I guess the showrunners feel mighty confident about the positive reception the show is going to receive. I will be checking this out.

Now I know why. Just finished E01. Interesting story, good acting, great special effects, but damn, the show is seriously fucked up! Will continue watching another day. Temporary rating: "good" - less than the current 9.2 IMDb rating.

Best show this year hands down, fresh story quality acting, great action scenes. Overall 10/10. Fantastic job Eric Kripke!

Re: The Boys
this is so much different from most the "superhero" shows, its so well made, interesting plot, good acting, some kinda fucked up stuff that i love, kinda similar from Happy (the tv show) this show can easily go up to season 4-5 atleast without gettin shitty i think, there is so much potential with the plot.

Judging from what EK has done with Supernatural we can easily expect 10 seasons IMHO. P.S. All we need now is Orlando to approve the show

Or not. Given that Netflix has earned a certain reputation for killing off shows, even well-received ones, the same might be happening with Amazon and The Boys. Amazon is crazy about collecting data points, maybe even crazier than Netflix, and once data shows the money for the show is better spent on a new show, it's game over.

Re: The Boys
Yeah most definitely. Those data points are the beginning and end of everything. It's the reason why Amazon and Netflix can make recommendations based on what you've already watched. It was reported a while back that Netflix renewal and cancelation decisions are primarily based on the number of people who complete a season within four weeks of its release. If so, then the underlying question should be, is four weeks a reasonable enough period to find and binge something in full? For me, the answer would be no! Streaming services are growing more and more with each passing year. If today isn't any indication of that emerging trend mentioned by lighton, then I don't know what is. Amazon just axed three of their shows today, and Netflix has been going to town over the past two years or so. If it ain't reality (or dirt cheap to produce with a huge turnaround) there's no safe haven.

This show is like a fixed Happy! - still twisted, but a better acting and overall higher quality.

Re: The Boys
This series does feel like a mix of Happy!, and also Ash vs. The Evil Dead. The casting choices made for this series were perfect. I didn't even know Antony Starr (Banshee) was in this until I started watching the first episode. I didn't recognize him in the trailer, and I never bothered to look the cast over before watching. I just knew I was in there like swimwear! The heroes are the villains. You couldn't pay me not to watch this! I was never a big follower of the comics, but I'm familiar with the origin stories related to the source material. Antony* Starr as Homelander is perfect! This guy has the most psychotic stare I've ever seen on screen, and he's playing as a Supe who's a ruthless psychopath with Superman-like powers. Homelander doesn't give a shit about human life and can crack at any given moment. Karl Urban is another favorite of mines since The Chronicles of Riddick and was by far my most favorite character (Bones) from the nuTrek movies. Nice to see Laz Alonso (Mother's Milk) in this too. The show has the budget and it shows. A-grade cast, excellent writing, even better acting, character depth, high-quality VFX, and a soundtrack to die for. Each track I've heard so far is bang on perfect for each episode. Supernatural fans recognize this as an Eric Kripke trademark. I could have ripped through this in one day but I want to take my time and enjoy it. I'll probably finish the remaining eps at some point later today.

"A fixed Happy!"? Happy! is twisted in a more friendly way... and way more fun!

Re: The Boys
Hehe, it took me awhile to figure it out too. I kept scratching my head saying this guy looks familiar. I paused it during the rescue selfie scene in ep 1 and then it hit me. Antony* Starr... Banshee.
