Topic: Pandora (2019)
https://next-episode.net/pandora-2019
Set in the year 2199, a young woman who has lost everything finds a new life at Earth's Space Training Academy where she learns to defend the galaxy from intergalactic threats.
some good special effects but everything else is terrible including the stupid choice of music at the beginning when her home is destroyed nearly turned it off there and then.

I added the link, image and show info to your post (for people not familiar with the show). I'm looking forward to watching the show but I've already lowered my expectations.

Same here. I'll see where it goes but based on the first episode I'm not sure how long that'll be...

Re: Pandora (2019)
This show is just... all over the place. It does not look like they have any idea where it is supposed to go. That, or they know exactly where they want it to go but can't wait to get there, skipping all that pesky story in favour of more exposition. A good team of writers could probably make about 5-10 entirely separate shows of decent quality out of what they tried to cram into one episode here. gumbo wrote: including the stupid choice of music at the beginning when her home is destroyed nearly turned it off there and then.
Agreed, that was kinda off. It sounded like a scrambled version of a familiar theme to me... maybe one of the Star Wars ones? At least, then, they got the "My family just got killed brutally. Let's go on wacky space adventures!" part down.

Re: Pandora (2019)
I get a cheesy Trek vibe. Maybe this is another example of the downside of so many new shows. The talent pool, especially of skilled writers, has not grown as much as the number of new shows each year. Pandora may have been a great pitch but those who were hired to make it happen fumbled.

Interesting... it reminded me of Killjoys. Somewhat cheap worldbuilding (Killjoys spent waaay too much time in gravel pits! ), less perfect attention to details compared to great shows, some logical flaws. Still, I didn't stop watching Killjoys and hope Pandora improves a bit too. Suasor wrote:Maybe this is another example of the downside of so many new shows. Yes, that and the Pandora budget should have been higher. I wonder what the production cost per episode is, compared to other sci-fi shows like Killjoys and The Expanse. Pandora ratings here and at IMDb are brutal!

If only somebody could convince him to do that now while taking a video of it... that video would retain reusability in reaction GIFs for a very long time...

When our protagonist is going up the escalators in the beginning, the Nokia ring tone is playing, except for the last note. Will watch the second and maybe third episode, but it has to improve fast if I am to continue

What do you mean? some_one was referring to the "stupid choice of music at the beginning when her home is destroyed" that gumbo mentioned. (I agree btw, weird choice of music!)

The Nokia tune (also called Grande Valse) is a phrase from a composition for solo guitar, Gran Vals, by the Spanish classical guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega, written in 1902.[1] It has been the icon of Finnish corporation Nokia since the 1990s, becoming the first identifiable musical ringtone on a mobile phone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_tune

This show has one of the worst ratings on this site, need to check it just because of that

Yeah, "Plan Pandora From Outer Space" is another of those "so bad it's good" efforts.

I've decided to stop watching the show. Wish they had a bigger budget, but they didn't. Curious to see if a season 2 will happen.

Well, judging by its targeted demographics, apparent overall budget, and, afaic, overall awfulness, I'd be highly surprised if it didn't.

Well, I'm not an expert, but the numbers on https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/pand … e-ratings/ don't look promising so far... We'll see!

Re: Pandora (2019)
Of course the numbers don't look good, the show is terrible. What did you think I was insinuating? The crappy shows live on and the good ones die young. This has been the common theme for quite some time now. You have to throw a little humor at it or you'll drive yourself mad. BTW, I dropped Pandora from my watchlist after the last episode.

I don't understand what you mean, but what it really needs is a bigger budget!

Last episode, those two :3 were actually almost funny. The scriptwriter could have used a little more effort and made it properly good, at least it was an attempt I guess...but yeah, show needs better/bigger in general.
