Topic: Best show of 2018?
My vote goes for Cobra Kai. Thoughts?
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Best show of 2018?
Yeah my vote too for Cobra Kai, absolutely. First show in a very long time that actually had decent engaging writing and very little preachy PC-messages. They have actually managed to make Cobra Kai less PC preachy than the original Karate Kid was intended. I really, really liked that. All characters have good and bad sides and we can understand and relate to how they all feel.

Re: Best show of 2018?
There are probably more to come but for now... Killing Eve: (2018 Winner) This show is pretty much filling the Orphan Black shaped hole in my heart. So happy to have Sandra Oh back on my screen (yes I'm looking at you Dr. Yang). This is a breath of fresh air from the stale shows being churned out by the crappy networks. Sandra Oh has finally found a show worth her talents, and (from what I heard) the books are short and sweet reads if you like the show and want more. Probably the most exciting TV show I've seen in a long time. The writing's snappy and assumes intelligence of the audience, the acting is purely captivating, and most importantly, the plot is simply not at all what you might expect. Don't go in watching this show with a know-it-all, seen-it-all attitude. You will get chopped down to miniscule size quick! *Edit* So freaking good I actually decided to binge it again after only three weeks since watching the season finale. And the following are based on their respective seasons of this year; although both shows as a whole are stellar nonetheless... Billions: (2016 Winner) Anchored by the performances of Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis, it didn't take long for this show to become one of my favorites. A+ cast from top to bottom, fantastic performances, even better writing and storytelling, and wittingly funny at times. Billions distinguishes itself as an extremely smart, high-stakes chess match. For pure enjoyment purposes, little else on television touches it. The Handmaid's Tale: (2017 Winner) It's bleak, it's intense social surgery, it is a dark portent, and it's definitely not for the faint-hearted. It pushes our minds into an universe of evil and cruelty -- if the women's condition is one of the (few) things that western society concords about, here we see this fall apart completely in front of us. All directors (especially Morano) plays with our perspective -- the power of details is incredible. Facial expressions, sounds, scenery, all lead to reveal the world as it is -- a place not fit for humans like this. Sci-fi aside, those are three of my top shows over the course of the past couple of years.

The Terror on AMC. The character arcs were amazing and the depth of the show went way beyond bloody scares.

Aw, yeah! I forgot about that one! The Thing looked a little fakey and I usually love Jared Harris so no surprise there, but Adam Nagaitis as Mr Hickey - OMG he was amazing! And that he was sort of skinny and (very) cute just made him more frightening.

I agree. This was a really good show. Another one is "Hidden", the 2018 version, not the 2011 version. I've requested it be added, as did someone else before me. Both requests have been rejected. It's not on TVDB or TV Maze. They both have the old one. It is on IMDB, and I included that info. Apparently, not good enough. I would recommend this show to anyone who likes the "Killing Eve" type of show. The last episode for season 1 is this Wednesday.

As you may know by now that show already exists here under its original broadcast name; originally shown in the Welsh language as an 8-part television series on channel S4C back in January 2018. What you're referring to is the bilingual version (mostly English) of the series that aired on BBC One Wales and BBC Four back in June of this year. Spectacular crime drama/thriller with a sharp twist and a hidden gem that's well worth the watch. For those of you who enjoyed Forbrydelsen (The Killing) and Broen (The Bridge), Hidden (2018) will be right up your alley. Wizard wrote:In no particular order...
+1 to Happy!, Counterpart and Altered Carbon. Let me also add Lost In Space (2018).

After Cobra Kai hype in this topic, decided to watch it. It was entertaining for sure, but I did not understand the idea of this show. In my opinion, it was almost as lame (I have martial arts training and all that karate bs feels super lame) as the original Karate Kid, only Karate Kid was intended for actual kids and teaches good things, but this show with a massive Coors beer product placement, strike first, no mercy, vegan weed, drunk driving, hit & run, tearing a new vagina etc. I don't see how it could be a show for 11-15 year olds. But if it's not for a teenagers, and it does not really seems like a Karate Kid parody, then wtf was it Somebody gave kids series to Tarantino by mistake? ▼Spoiler And what a Capoeira fighter is doing in a karate tournament in the last episode?

I think it's probably aimed at kids who watched The Karate Kid movie when it came out, that are now adults. Like me! I loved it, definitely one of my shows of 2018.
2020. Meh.

Re: Best show of 2018?
I have to echo a few of the shows people have already mentioned but hands down they are some of the best TV not only for this year but I'd argue they are definitely some of the best TV of the last several years: Counterpart - Love this one JK Simmons is truly amazing in this show and its so different than most of the shows out there. Killing Eve - Amazing!!! One of the few shows that my wife and I can watch together that she loves as much as I do. Altered Carbon - I've actually read the books, and while they did make some changes from the book I feel like they were good changes. I feel like this was so well done, and just a non-stop thrill ride. And yes they did change some things from the books but I feel like the core stuck to the source material.
