Let it scream. I hate those settings. If a title has "The" at the start, then leave it there! How can you have a system that looks like this... - Blackadder, The - Flintstones, The - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The It's all very wrong.
No, it's not. Libraries/bookstores file this way, music stores file this way, offices file this way. Most rules of filing ignore articles such as "The", "Le", or "Der/Die/Das". Back when video stores were a thing, did you ever find "The Empire Strikes Back" under "The"? No. It was under "E". Aaand...you're just pushing my buttons, aren't you?

That's always been a bit of a problem for me. I subscribe to the notion of moving the prefixes to the back, and I try to sort my stuff thusly, but then there are the exceptions. Exceptions are the bane of systems, and like Genre sorting they can be a gut-feeling rabbit-hole so deep you never find the light of day again For a movie like An Officer And A Gentleman, for instance, I'd consider the An an integral part of the title name, as opposed to just a simple prefix. So I'd sort that in the A's. The Matrix, even though the The is pretty integral, it's still just Matrix 1, Matrix 2, so that goes in the M's. I'm kinda torn on The Thing, but I think I'd just leave the The because it'll be in the T's anyway. The Rock, however, is THE Rock.. that needs to be in the T's Incidentally, I actually purchased licenses for most of the Collectorz programs sometime late last century or early this century, but I've stopped using them. I don't even remember why, but there was something that bothered me. Goodreads took over the books, Next-Episode took over the TV Shows, IMDB took over the movies and MyMovies (.dk) took over the physical DVD/BR management.

Ha, the way you feel about The Rock is exactly the way I feel about The Terminator. The definite article in those titles aren't used just for precision; it's a staccato drum solo that opens a great pop song, a gunshot that starts a 100-meter dash, the necessary ingredient that gives it that Oomph! In the case of The Terminator "The" just becomes superfluous after a while. It’s good at introducing an idea in the first film, which is why it was discarded in later entries because we’re familiar enough with it that we don’t have to be reminded of its importance. I guess it all boils down to personal preference too since someone else can make similiar cases for sorting The Lion King, The Dark Knight, The Graduate, The Departed The Wolverine, or The Shining for that matter by their definite article. The same could also be said for titles such as The Truman Show, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, The Prestige, The Happening, and The Haunting to name a few. There are definitely exceptions to the rule which is why I agree that the use of sort order fields is infinitely better. I was also at a crossroad with The Thing a while back when I first started using Collectorz. After some time I just left it that way after coming to terms with myself that it could go either way because like you said, it's going to be in the Th's anyway but now, after being amped by this topic, I think I might switch it back to the way I originally had it sorted. The Thing (1982) happens to be one of my all-time favs. I also feel the same as you about An Officer and a Gentleman, and also A Scanner Darkly, since A and An are integral parts of their respective titles. One of the important factors to why I sort A Scanner Darkly under "A" is its hidden meaning in relation to its story. BTW, I agree with using Goodreads for books. For me, TV shows are currently split between three sources (next-episode.net being one of them), and movies between two (IMDb being the main one, for now). I still use Collectorz for my acquired physical and offline digital collection of movies, music, comics, and television shows since it's been the norm for me for such a long time.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
On the "Request a Show" page, can you add an option to hide "Your Request" section. I like going through the request list pretty often just in case I have missed a show......thanks

You go through other people's requests because you may've missed a show?

I'm with you all the way with these......... It's really how it seems in our own heads as to how to sort it, after all they are our collections, and wouldn't it be boring if we all did it the same way, plus, we wouldn't get these discussions. It would just be nice though to have the choice

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
When I use the Android app, only shows that I'm tracking appear on the Weekly Schedule. Is there a way to hide shows I'm not tracking on the Calendar on the main site?

Settings > Homepage. Tick "Only shows from my watchlist" Settings > Calendar. Untick "Show all shows in the Calendar (don't filter it against my watchlist)"

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I guess I mean shows that I AM tracking but are "paused". (On the android app it calls them 'not tracked' shows)

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Any chance off adding a filter for languages and the movies section of site. I've noticed when browsing title and description are in English then I go to TheMovieDB and find out it's not in English. I would like a filer option where genres and years are so I can select English only or something.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Is there a chance to have selective air date offset. An example: https://next-episode.net/good-mythical-morning shows the yesterdays episode in the calendar as todays. If this could be exempted from the offset setting i t would show todays episode in the calendar today.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Why does it show yesterdays episode as todays though? Is it because it airs at 4:00 am "today" ?

Don't know. It just shows it because of the offset that I use. Here's a view from the showpage and my calendar settings + the calendar for today...

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Ok I see. The problem is that the show page shows actual air dates (without the offset), while the episodes and the calendar pages - offset it. I don't think the offset should be applied there (on the show page) as, for example, a 1 day offset countdown wouldn't make much sense, would it? And it would just flat out give wrong dates? Cheers

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
If there's no way to not use offset on selected shows on calendar page then I'll just have to live with it.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Hey, this is my first comment on the forums. I haven't read all suggestions, so I might be suggesting things that already have been suggested. First of all this site is awesome! Thank you very much for creating it. Without it, I wouldn't know how to track all the stuff that I am watching, when it airs and so on, except with a huge amount of work to organize all of it. As for my feature suggestions: 1. In the suggestions for similar shows: It would be nice if we could see all the suggestions that have been made by other people (instead of only 3, it could be something like a collapse-able list). Maybe with a counter that indicates how often it was suggested. 2. Also in the suggestions for similar shows: When adding a similar show, it would be nice to be able to search for specific shows to quicken the process of finding them in the lists. 3. Additional info for shows: It would great to see the platforms on which a show is available. For example to see if it is available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc. (I know this is probably not possible because of data inaccessibility or issues with the different region-locked content of the sites.) Cheers

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Hey there and thanks for the nice feedback and suggestions, I'll address them one by one: 1) will keep that suggestion in mind 2) it would be in improvement for sure, but for now - you can easily search by ctrl+f on your browser when all shows available for suggestion are expanded 3) I tried this a couple of times, but unfortunately, for now - there is no service available that I can use to fetch that info (what streams where) reliably and consistently across shows so while this feature makes sense and I've tried to implement it - I can't really get the data needed for it. Cheers!
