Re: Star Trek: Discovery

He's Dead, Let's put the network in him (11 AFAIK)

I'm trying to say enough here to allow the clues I see without spoilers

I may well be wrong

Hope we get Hugh back (nice bloke)

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

A few good Qs on AfterTrek

Will Lorca be in next season?
Will L'rell (top fan fave is she joins the crew)

Apparently Stamet's meets his bloke's executioner in 14 / 15

I just noticed the preview of today's has a spore scene - can't be sure who's in it

How about not spoiling constantly??

No I´m not Tom Hanks - duh!!

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Didn't spoil - got it wrong - was all supposition

On the whole this was a good ep and threw my ideas of DISCO out of whack

Next week looks good if you've see the trailer

Wondering what cliff-hanger they're gonna leave us on? Can't even guess ATM as they keep doing surprising things.

Well, I guess the only reason to watch this show is gone now. :\

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

It was incredible how much was packed into last week's episode. I know a lot of people have several questions whirling around in their heads. Maybe tonight's episode will provide some answers, maybe it will raise even more questions? I for one hope they don't try to fix everything over the course of the next two episodes. I love DISCO but personally I feel the writers need to exercise a little more patience moving forward into season two. Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Can't figure out what the inevitable cliffhanger for S2 is gonna be

There MUST be some clues as to how 15 is going to play out (only spotted a few, poss false ones)

The one huge Q I have is ...

Is Jason Isaacs really dead? He told us he was in After Trek but also noted he lies

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

I have only one question - could Tyler still make little klingon babies with that crushed and snipped klingon penis?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

I guess the real Q behind tonight is who'se holding who'se hand (as it's named 'Will You Hold My Hand')

There are so many possibilities

My best bet is Voq, Stemmets, Georgiou or - highly unlikely - Lorca from the Mycelial Network

It'll end up on a cliff-hanger so that may well be the last line

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Its been renewed for a second season already so we wont be left hanging forever...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Great. Excellent. Brilliant. Best Star Trek ever.

SPOILER Show
Well looking at this in retrospect I took it as being Burnham's hand. Starfleet's leadership chose a shockingly extreme way to end the war, not unlike other drastic choices they have made in attempts to turn the tide against their enemies in Trek's past, and Burnham persuaded them to accept another way that wouldn't turn the Federation into genocidal monsters. They allowed L'Rell to make a political power play and unite the Klingon houses and restore their honor. Empress Philippa is off on her own now, and Tyler's following a new path with L'Rell. Burnham's efforts were rewarded with her criminal record expunged and her rank returned. I don't know about you but to me this feels like an attempt by the writers to set Discovery back on the same track as the Trek's that came before it and allows season two to start fresh and anew.

The only question I have for this week is when Discovery hails the Enterprise next season will it be Zachary Quinto or CGI Leonard Nimoy standing beside Pike? wink

You're not taking into account that Disco is written to be somesort "quasi-anthology"; each season is supposed to be it's own story.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Well, what can I say... Holy shitballs is all that comes to mind after the last episode...

...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Watch After Trek if you want some cool HINTs at next season

I love the spore notices

Also note the Qs they DON'T answer smile Very intriguing...

Been doing that all along. I even listen to Matt Mira's TNG podcast

It's exactly what I took into account, hence the reason for my wink. I think it's safe to assume that a majority of people kind of expected what we all witnessed in the final 30 secs of the last episode. I even mentioned the possibility of catching a glimpse back on page three.

I haven't had the chance to watch the latest one yet but based on past entries I agree with you. The details always tend to lie in the answers that aren't given. Other than that the best way for me to properly express how I feel about the season finale, as well as the entire season, is to repeat what was already said -- HOLY SHITBALLS, this season has been one big roller coaster ride for me. I'm at a loss with all the moaning and groaning from the critics over the season finale but forget them, I loved it! Sure it has its faults (none that I care to mention atm) but I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. I bet y'all peeped all those Easter Eggs too. smile

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Great first season, just a shit last episode.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

did somebody else, notice the "creepy Orion" was Clint Howard, who has also appeared in several Star Trek episodes as the original series as Balok in The Corbomite Maneuver?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

This episode was pretty terrible.  Build up to a huge Klingon war..then solve it in one episode.  Kinda takes the wind out of the sails.  Pretty lame in general, although I've enjoyed the show very much

Yep, most definitely! That would be one of those Easter Eggs. smile

I agree, I was very disappointed with episode fifteen; the whole resolution felt completely "flat" after all the build up.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

From watching After Trek (for those who ain't seen it)

Apparently they wrote the series backwards

They knew how they wanted the series to end so worked out how to get to that point

Then after writing it backwards with the end in mind, they should've read it forwards and realized they didn't write any interesting characters worth cheering for or cuing into and actually caring about, but that doesn't much matter when you ruin your cinematography with an inconsistently over saturated color profile and a skewed rotating camera angle effectively washing out your beautiful set design and outstanding special effects leaving your audience dizzy for no other reason than artistic self indulgence, when your job as a director of photography is to bring the audience into the world of the story and not tell a story with the camera outside the reality of the world, effectively enhancing nothing.  Neutral tones and a level camera, will always be Star Trek, just watch the previous shows and the movies, even the new ones with light flares use a balanced color profile.  Over saturated color profiles and skewed cameras are for dream sequences and memory flashbacks only.  When Ash had his flashback to when he was transforming, the picture looked like a glowing smudge because they had no where left to go with their color profile as it was already far too over saturated to begin with.

I could go on and on and on and on with the mess that is STD, from story, characters, canon, and production, but why bother, it's just such a mess on every level, but better than Enterprise because at least its worth discussing and not completely ignoring.
