Topic: Issue with notifications

I am using the paid version of the Android app and am running Android 6.0.1.

I am having an odd issue with notifications; not sure if the issue is caused by the Next-Episode (NE) app, or possibly another app.  But I hope someone might be able to help me.

First, I have the NE app set to notify me of: Upcoming Episodes, Known Premiers, and Cancellations.  I also have my phone's default calendar app set to remind me twice a week of medication I need to take.

Before installing the NE app, my calendar reminders happened as expected.  After I installed the NE app, both my calendar reminders and NE app notifications worked as expected for a day or two.  Then both stopped showing up.  Since at that time, NE was the most recent app I had installed, I assumed it was the culprit.  So I reset the NE app and set it up again.  At that point, both sets of notifications started appearing again as expected.

But starting yesterday, both sets of notifications again failed to show up.

Has anyone experienced something like this before?  Where NE doesn't show it's notifications and might stop another app's reminders from appearing?

The only other possibility I can think of is that I have Titanium Backup set to take backups on my cell a few times a week.  I've had issues in the past where after it ran a backup, a certain app wouldn't run as expected on my cell phone until I manually started it again.

But, as I said, the notification issue didn't start until after I installed the NE app.  And my calendar notifications would always work as expected before that, even after a Titanium Backup was run.

Any advice someone might have would be appreciated.

Re: Issue with notifications

I do not have data on my phone. So when I am at work I have internet access and when home. I get double notifications. And the app crashes the first time around. Like when I get to work and turn it on. But I can live with that. Its still a cool app. Old phone paid app.

Re: Issue with notifications

There is nothing in the NE app that can prevent other apps from receiving notifications.

Can’t think of anything that will affect how the app works after a day or two either.

Can you temporarily disable the backup and see if the apps work fine for like a week before turning it back on?

Thanks for the reply.  Sure, I'll disable my backup now and give it some time.  I'll report back in another week or two.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  :-)

Haven't had any notification issues since I turned Titanium Backup off.  So I guess that's somehow causing the issue.  I've turned my backups back on and just set my phone to reboot after every backup.  That should circumvent the issue.  I'll post back if it happens again.

Thanks so much.

Re: Issue with notifications

Titanium Backup works by freezing or killing apps before backing them up.  You do need to start them again manually afterwards.

As for backing up several times a week, that seems a little excessive.  When I had it on my previous phone, once a week or every two weeks was enough.  Do you really update/change that much data every few days that you need to back it up that often.?

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".
