Re: Building you own PC - random stuff and questions
Are you building a PC, upgrading parts or just have random questions.... I'll start with a question. Do any of you have a Corsair 570X case? Maybe with Corsair H100i (v2) AIO?

I don't, but I'm a fan of Corsair. Never really understood the point of water cooling though.

Re: Building you own PC - random stuff and questions
It's been quite a number of years since I built my own PC, but sure I don't mind a thread on it. I buy custom laptops these days, mostly for gaming and running VMs as part of my scripting/developing.

Re: Building you own PC - random stuff and questions
For me it's been 5 years since the last major update and at the moment I am looking at 1600€ upgrade that hopefully will get me another 5 years...

Re: Building you own PC - random stuff and questions
Actually I just recently upgraded my machine. Sadly I do not have Corsair case, I use "Be Quiet!" and I have Kraken X62 AIO cooler. But perhaps you have a general question I could try and answer?

Actually, as you might know, when time passes. 9 days in this case. My whole setup has gone through so many changes that that question is non relevant at the moment. The case on that case was if that AIO could fit on the top, but it's not relevant since my preferred case has changed and I found a theme to follow. Anyway At first I was going with i7700K but now I think I'll go with i7600K as CPU. I don't use many programs that support hyper threading so I don't need it. It would be better future proof with 77 but the cost is a bit too high. You can see the whole list here. Some parts migrate from my current (which you can also see here)

What made you decide on Ryzen? What are you using the PC on mostly?

Im curious about this as well,I'm looking at building/having built a new system and have been looking a bit and haven't been able to decide between the ryzen or the new intel's.Mine would mostly be for gaming with some very lite(and very bad) programming. But that is only the tip of the iceberg as I'm sure your all aware, there is oh so much more to decide on and look into.My biggest limiter(as is pretty much always the case for us all) will be my budget which I'm not set on a number yet.

Just remember that games and most software do not benefit from hyperthreading, it's useful with calculation i.e. rendering and other non live stuff. Clock speed counts more in gaming than thread count. So i5 might be better for gaming than i7, because the bottle neck is more often the GPU than CPU. And for Ryzen lineup, well most older and current games are made optimized for Intel, afaik.
