This show being considered as promising is a serious understatement imo. I found this past season to be one of the best coming out of 2016. High tempo, engaging story and a strong cast is what makes this one of my new favorites. Shantel VanSanten is every bit as warm, lovable and witty as she was as Patty Spivot on The Flash, and even daring and brave as she was as Jessica Chapel on Gang Related. Epps can be a brutely cold-hearted SOB in some scenes and engaging as both the tough-as-nails Agent Johnson and as a Force Recon Marine captain. Addai-Robinson is probably my most pleasant surprise. On Arrow she was always a fairly one-sided, shadowy, emotionless character, so seeing her play someone lower on the totem pole, fighting for professional respect, is a welcome change of pace that adds more to her dynamics as an actress. Eddie McClintock, Tom Sizemore, David Marciano, and Rob Brown were other welcome additions for me as well.
So freaking happy to see Ryan Phillippe in such a great show that's criminally underrated imo. Mark Wahlberg as executive producer speaks volumes about how the TV series faithfully harkens back to the motion picture. I thought this first season was done exceptionally well despite some of the negative online reviews and bashing from fans of the original author of the book. Is it a masterpiece? NO! Is it entertaining? Hell yeah it is!! Is Phillippe Mark Wahlberg? NO, and he doesn't have to be in order to be successful. Is the longevity of the show a mystery? Of course it is based on the fact that most of us already have ideas on how it's going to end, so everything else inbetween is what's important.
BTW, here's some interesting info on what season two will focus on. Well, sort of because I'm not spilling the whole can of beans. For those of you who watched all of last season this shouldn't be too difficult to try and figure out. Actually the answers are staring you right in the face like bread crumbs leading you to the overall conclusion of the series. One can only wonder how far they plan on expanding the story, perhaps even throwing a monkey wrench or two at all the know-it-alls lol...

If you plan on watching Shooter in the near future don't worry about any spoilers. You're still in the dark.

I am entertained, and that is good enough for me.
Indeed! Designated Survivor is next up for me after rewatching season one of Into the Badlands, leading me into the second season. I would also include last season of The Last Ship. IMO it doesn't get more high-octane than that and most people that watched season three would definitely agree.
Either way next on the menu for me is Into the Badlands!
