It's been going downhill for a while now. The last 2 seasons have been fillers.
I guess they are looking to do a type of spin off with just Castle, his daughter and the British chic as a PI group and slowly fade away everything else.
Also, does anyone else think Nathan has put on a lot of weight recently.?
DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

I agree with Wizard,the show has been rather stale and pointless for a good while and indeed Nathan has put on a few pounds(but who am I to talk).

Well they had to do something, the whole issue of them not wanting to actually work together has pretty much killed the show anyway, at least now it has a VERY slim chance of surviving a little longer.

Maybe it would be better to end it, not dragging it out one more season...as the last ones were rather dull also
Maybe they will come up with some twist that will make the show better...one can only dream

The show may be "Castle", but from day one, its been about the Castle-Beckett relationship.
How, it's been made clear by the writers that they aren't really made for each other. After all these years together, they don't really trust each other. I just hope they literally kill off her character. Anything else would be half-assed, like the rest of season 8.

The problem with a show who's theme/plot/arc rests, in part at least, on a "will they won't they" is, where do you take the show once "they have"?

Well, if it were cable there could be lots of nude scenes (although both the leads might use body doubles, for different reasons).

I doubt this one will move to the CW or cable now that its been cancelled. Not a bad run. I always enjoyed it.

It has always bothered be that as a married couple they called each other by their last names. They could do a spin off with his PI service, but that would only last 1 season I think. It would depend on how they end this show.

I'm going to pretend that the last scene (the flash forward) was just a dream. It's obvious that part wouldn't have been there if the show was continued for a 9th season.

Apparently they filmed two endings, one where they lived happily ever after and one... not.
I think the ending they showed was crap.

I honestly enjoyed how bad the "story arcs" were. Like, "How big of a bullshit they'll come up with now. Oh, Castle has amnesia? Awesome, let's do this." I just watched it for the character interactions and pleasently empty cases of the week.
