Re: The X-Files
well the main thing people came up with were inconsistencies in the plot. BUUUUUUUT, season 5. if you look at the 3 parter over season 4 finale and season 5, it almost fits. the only thing is, clearly the syndicate were working with some aliens. Not only this, remember the x files is still the x files, its not another show, it is the show that was on back in 93. Because the 'answers' they gave that upset people? Who says they are right? The X Files was never a show that said "yes, this is real" I'm very impressed with it so far. And I'm not bias even though it's been my favourite show since it started, as I was very disappointed with 'I Want To Believe'. The only thing i have a problem with in the new season is the pencils in the roof of the office...the fire crew just left them there? and also, the wooden pencils survived a massive fire? But ill let it go.

Loved the new episode. So funny and clever. A nice twist on an age old myth. Defiantly will be a classic in my book

Did you catch all the easter eggs?

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

The graves. "lets kick it in the ass" haha. Classic Manners. Umm, Darin Morgen did Humbug, so when the doctor says about a monster coming from "here, i don't know", it could be a reference to Leonard. They mention Mothmen. Obviously the pencils being throwing pencils. Dagoo is also a character from Moby Dick. and Scully mentions quequeg. and he was eaten by a reptile. oh and of course, the one i like, which Darin Morgen also started, "I'm immortal". Because of Clyde Brookman. Then solidified in Tithonus. Did I miss any? I probably did. Either way, the speech at the graveyard made me laugh so hard. "by the end of the day I was the manager"

Re: The X-Files
IMHO, the last 2 episodes (10x3, 10x4) were a complete waste (i.e. filler episodes) for the limited 6 episode season. They may have been okay in 13 or 22 episode season; but, not for this season. I reserve judgement; but, it is looking like this season could have been better served as a 2 hour movie, at this rate.

Re: The X-Files
I've really enjoyed all the episodes so far. To me they seem to be re-visiting the different styles of episodes that ran during the main series i.e.: Alien/Govt Conspiracy, Weird Science experiment, Comedic, Monster of the Week etc. I was expecting it to just focus on the alien govt conspiracy and follow a fairly tight story arc but think I prefer it the way they have one it.

+1. It's definitely better than I thought it would be. It could have gone down the route that you said, but it really does feel like the old show to me, I'm impressed and really hope it continues.

Re: The X-Files
WHAT!? It was BAD, then it was good, Really good infact....and it got bad again. Why? Argh. It seemed like they tried to jam a whole miniseries that COULD have worked with 4-5 more episodes into just 2. Im puzzled.

Re: The X-Files
It was uneven, just like the original run. It is better in a short run then stretched over twenty or so eps per season.

Re: The X-Files
I loved the old show...but somehow I get the feeling that this is a failed attempt of reviving the original show? I mean, I like the new one too but especially the last episodes were somehow forced?

The truth about the status of The X-Files season 11 is out there, but fans may want to believe it’s merely fiction. In an interview with Reuters, Gillian Anderson told the wire service that another season probably won’t happen, saying: “I think it is finished." Anderson recently finished shooting two films and has a regular role in Starz’ upcoming American Gods TV series. More evidence of a rocky negotiation comes from Anne Simon, a reliable source close to Chris Carter and a science adviser for the series. She has been keeping fans in the loop with behind-the-scenes updates since filming for the revival began. The scientist and college professor sent a series of tweets to fans warning that The X-Files season 11 may be in danger.
Comment #2 wrote:Uh yeah. Chris Carter's schedule is holding things up. I hope the hold up is Fox refusing to go forward without 8-10 scripts for them to approve. The reason for the lackluster S10 was Chris Carter literally writing the final episode while filming the 5th. He's admitted to it. The reason Were Monster was so good was because it was an old D. Morgan script from his time on the kolchak the night stalker reboot. I read that script online before S10 was even announced. He just did a little revamp and changed characters to Mulder and Scully. He wrote it back when he had time to flesh something good out. S10 was thrown together and it showed. Sadly, I don't think script approval is the issue For all the talk of Gillian Anderson's pay on the revival, I think it's ironic that she, not Carter and not Duchovny, is the hold up. She's shooting something right now, if American Gods is picked up for a second season it would probably shoot next summer or Fall, she's attached to 2 movies (one shooting in the spring another I think has wrapped) and there's talk of her book series getting a TV deal (which she says she will star in) and now with Bryan Fuller no longer showrunning the new Star Trek series, there are rumors of a possible Hannibal S4. Not to mention the fact that she's expressed an interest in returning to Stella Gibson in The Fall (her favorite character) if the right story comes up. She's the hold up. And those who questioned why she should be paid as much as Duchovny should acknowledge her necessity to The X-Files. They can't and won't do it without her.
Comment #1 wrote:The treatment of fans watching this show parallels the treatment of Mulder in the show. He chases and chases, and can never quite reach the bottom of the alien conspiracy. Viewers watch and watch, and can never quite get a satisfying resolution to the series. And the reason for both appears the same: there is no master plan to the story. Just an endless series of plot annexes.

Re: The X-Files
I've actually liked this season. And if you look back at the season 4 finale and season 5 opener, michael kritschgau was half right about everything. It really was a distraction for bio warfare. Just those pesky loopholes where the syndicate clearly spoke about colonisation. Skinner episode looks good too. Kirsh being back in it. No doubt as a cameo

And they actually managed to tie up all (or most) of the loose ends. So all the grief from the "Lost" finale had an impact.

Re: The X-Files
I thought this season was such a let down. Nowhere near the ending such a good show should have bowed out with. I hope it doesn't return in another 10 years or 20 years or whenever if it'll be like this again. Still won't put me off watching it again from the start though, but I'll probably stop at season 8 or 9.
