Re: need help choosing what show to watch

Extant > Wayward Pines > The Whispers

Extant is solid all through, while Wayward Pines starts off great then is a massive disappointment, and The Whispers is just silly all through...unless you're the type of person who doesn't notice these things, in which case flip a coin it won't matter to you anyway.

It's nothing like the Ghost Whisperer, but it is just a pretty dumb show. I quit watching after giving it a really good try...I wanted to like it, but the whole thing never comes together, the plot is bad and the acting is terrible.

Re: need help choosing what show to watch

Whispers has kids. Annoying kids. Very annoying kids. That alone should be the reason not to watch it. ;p

Re: need help choosing what show to watch

I liked Wayward Pines.  Yes, it kind of loses it at the end perhaps, but it's only a one-series thing (unless they've changed their minds about another season?)

I watched the first ep of Extant and it just didn't do anything for me.

The Whispers I've not seen any of.

That's the second biggest X I've ever seen.

Re: need help choosing what show to watch

well i was annoyed at that girl in epi one.  and i dont like kids that much reason im 32 and have no kids lol

Well, this is a choice of three bad shows really. Extant gets better plot-wise if you keep going, but it's also dumb...just better than the other two in this tiny list. Wayward Pines just got worse and worse every time I watched it...leading up to the massive fail at its very end.

Haha yep - don't look at the ratings, or even the reviews - read the forums. You generally get real people chatting in the forums. Ratings are bots, and reviews are often written by people paid by some network to big up their terrible productions.

If you want a really good show to watch, get Mr Robot smile

Tyrant is also good. Also The Brink, Ray Donovan, and Defiance.

Re: need help choosing what show to watch

I would not say Wayward Pines is a bad show, many of us actually found it quite good. Even in the end, thought it was fine but i would have preferred another ending. I have never seen anybody else have such a negative opinion on it as Lollie has in this thread, most people actually was quite positive form everything i have read. I say go ahead and watch Wayward Pines. I have not seen the other two shows so i have no idea or opinion about those.

It was terrible, because it was a solid slope of disappointment. Could have done a lot with the show. It all went wrong about the time they introduced the family and made them important (second episode)...if you didn't notice then you're not the type to notice.

I wouldn't say that.  I like Mr Robot, but then I'm into tech kind of stuff and all that.  Having said that, I do find myself drifting off though this show quite a lot.  And it's not a show for everyone, I know my girlfriend would hate it!

There are TONS of other shows to recommend, but that's not what we were asked wink

That's the second biggest X I've ever seen.

Nope, but they're my picks of the litter.

Mr Robot isn't really all about tech stuff though, it's relevant on a far deeper level than "oo here's a show about hacking!!111"

Different people notice different levels of things though, for some it's all about what's on the surface and they think no deeper than that smile For some people it's enough that the actors get their lines right, or that the script supports the same beliefs they do.

I always watch (or try to watch) three episodes, just to be sure. If a show hasn't grabbed you by then, or it's starting to annoy you, then biff it.

Some shows need a little time to grow on you.

Just be aware Wayward Pines is perfectly watchable all the way through, just it has a steady slope of disappointment that turns into a sharp drop off the cliff at the very end. You'll likely still enjoy most of it though. At the very end you'll want to punch it in the face :3

Another one to recommend, Humans, was also a decent show (though the purists will tell you to watch the original version with subtitles, I still found the remix entertaining). Also have a few more good shows to recommend if you get bored - some more sci fi, some comedies, some twisty drama shows etc.

Maybe you should watch that version too then, lots of people said it was awesome. I loved Humans too, very happy we're getting a second season.

+1

Except, Wayward Pines i still enjoyed....it didn't go the direction i though it would but it was still enjoyable.

I've just started Mr Robot and its fantastic if you are open to other suggestions

ha ha, thanks for the warning, I'll delete my banked up episodes now.

Re: need help choosing what show to watch

I agree that The Whispers is not good. For some reason I kept watching through most of the season, maybe expecting it to get better, but it's really just awful.

I did enjoy the other two, however. I know a lot of people were disappointed in the ending they slapped on Wayward Pines and I can't say I wasn't, but overall it was a pretty gripping series and I enjoyed it. My suggestion would be, start with Wayward Pines because it only has one season, then watch Extant which is in its second and could be ongoing.
