“Hannibal” won’t live to see a fourth season. NBC announced the cancellation Monday.

Currently in its third season, which premiered June 4, the drama will finish up its entire 13-episode run in the same 10:00 p.m. timeslot Thursday nights this summer, wrapping up on Sept. 3 with the Season 3 finale serving as the series ender.

I am watching it right now, and I'm struggling. I don't think I watch another program with its head up its own arse as much as this.  It tries so hard to be clever and reference so much literature, art and religion, I just find myself...  drifting... off...

I actually enjoy season 3 despite that in some ways it's different from the previous seasons. Hopefully its current state will be resolved (Netflix? Hulu? Showtime?) before the end of this season. I will be sad if it ends with season three, but it's more important they'll write a proper ending.

"Here is why I believe this move was made now: television contracts for cancelled shows expire on June 30 every year. Assuming Hannibal is on the same cycle as normal fall/spring shows, NBC made this move now instead of in Aigust at the end of the season to allow Hannibal to find a new home before the cast contracts expire. Remember when Community was picked up on June 30 last year by Yahoo? That was as last minute as it gets. Hannibal is now on the clock."

Also, Hulu expressed their interest in the show, so we're probably good.

This. Terrible season, I even couldn't force myself to watch last ep. I mean, damn, they really went downhill with this show.

A friend of mine keeps raving about how good this show is and is trying to convince me to watch it. Was there any sort of resolution at the end of S3 or were the viewers left high and dry? Not sure I can be bothered getting into watching 3 seasons if it just stops suddenly.

Season 3 hasn't ended yet, it's not even half way through. Season 2 ending could've been as well series finale so they'll probably do something similar for season 3 finale (assuming they still won't know if it'll get picked up by someone or not).

I am not surprised that it has been cancelled......I gave up after the first 2 episodes of this season, it was diabolical!
