Re: Season 5 (Spoilers all plus season 5)

I am not a great fan of this season (I feel like it is a filler season).
Still it has a lot of great scenes and moments in it. That is hard to not get with Game of Thrones I guess.

Spoiler

One of the things I have been speculating about is if Shireen is really Stannis daughter. Especially in the show. I was not thinking about that when reading the books, but this season it has really felt that way in the show. Like something was off in the scenes she was in or talked about.

Now it is possible that it was part of the build up towards this moment in episode 9. But I guess the theory still lives as they could have sacrificed Shireen for nothing. Her mother, Selyse, would of course know and I was trying to see if there was any proof of it in the horrible scene. if there was I could not see it.

There is no real proof other then suspect acting and words in the show. The marriage between Stannis and Selyne is suppose to be a loveless marriage and they are suppose to have a curse upon them so that they can not have sons, because Robert Baratheon bedded Selyne's sister in the marriage bed, making the sister get pregnant with a son.

Could Selyne possible have an affair? She is suppose to be very unattractive but I do not see that being a hindrance. The small council of Joffrey I, tries to discredit Stannis by saying that it is the Dragonstone fool and Jester, Patchface (not in the show), that is the father of Shireen. Surely that is not true, but it might be in there as a seed for the truth.

Re: Season 5 (Spoilers all plus season 5)

I liked it. The season overall did feel like the show is past its prime.  Was glad to see several characters get what they deserved, and for the most part enjoyed how they handled the other big events.

Spoiler

I feel like Arya's story this season was far too slow, she could have done with a more succinct training montage or something. To have her pop out in full face-changer ninja-mode here felt kinda strange, when all she's been doing for few months?/weeks? was janitor duty for like 9 episodes.

I was glad to see Brienne get to confront Stannis finally, although I'm not sure why they didn't show the actual kill. Why cut away at the last second? After burning his daughter alive I was ready to see a bit more brutal finality to his end.

I also was kind of hoping Doran Martell would find out about the poisoning and have his big dude hack down Ellaria. Would have been kinda cool. Maybe they'll throw that in next season.

Lol here I am complaining there wasn't ENOUGH violence...

Re: Season 5 (Spoilers all plus season 5)

I think episode 10 was the best episode of the season

Spoiler

I wonder if I was correct that in the show Shireen was not Stannis real daughter and that is why the sacrifice did not work. Or if it was Melisandre that either failed it on purpose or accidently.

Re: Season 5 (Spoilers all plus season 5)

Hahaha typical Game of Thrones. smile

Overall it was a rather weak season with two or maybe three good/great episodes.

Have to agree about it being weak.

The season felt far less tightly plotted, which I guess is down partly to the show overtaking the books .
