Topic: Sons of Anarchy Finale

Didn't really like it, was abit predictable and I get what they tried to do - but I was disappointed by the end result and felt it needed a better closure! Soar the wings to freedom - RIP Teller!

They sorta painted themselves into a corner, they had nowhere else to go.

Jax was finished, but his overriding love for the club meant that he was always going to sacrifice himself rather than bring Samcro to its knees.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Finale

Yeah the finale was extremely predictable. Also that chase scene at the end was VERY poorly done. It looked like they were going like 30kmph, the slowest chase scene I've ever seen. Also that CGI at the end... Jesus fucking christ! Also talking about Jesus, wine and bread, the crusifiction pose of Jax... very subtle mr. Sutter! tongue

On a positive note, I really like the scene with the homeless woman. We finally got the meaning of her (she is the reaper and the ghost of that girl who died with the JT accident). It was a very nice touch and it will be the scene I will try to remember the most from this episode. Also I liked that scene with Nero and Jax when he handed his will to him.

All in all, the series took a down turn somewhere around the death of Opie (I still think it was the most dramatic scene in the whole series). I don't think it was a total crap fest in the end (like lets say Dexter) but it seems that going for 7 seasons is a bit too long for any series. 5-6 seems to be the sweet spot.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Finale

It ended how it had to for me after last weeks episode.

I'm sat here a little sad that its ended, I have loved this show.  Yes quality ebbed and flowed but looking back I feel happy about the show we got overall

The imagery at the end with the blood (wine) and bread, the crucifixion pose of Jax was a nice touch. He made a final sacrifice for his boys, the club and his family

Sutter is as subtle as a bag of rocks in a glass cup.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Finale

Yep the finale was predictable and adding

Spoiler

Vic

to the last scene of the show was an idiotic move. Plus both chase scenes were horribly directed and the CGI was beyond awful. Overall the final season was a disappointment and the show should've ended sooner.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Finale

The ending was alright. Predictable for sure. The chase scene was pretty slow, but maybe that was the point. I've been trying to rationalize this (I know, I know, rationalizing TV. . .) and the best I could come up with was that Jax just wanted to enjoy a chill ride before it ended. Anyone ever ride a motorcycle without eye protection? I can tell you, your eyes get really dried out at anything above ~60km/h and I live in a tropical, humid country. California is much less humid. Plus, the cops aren't (shouldn't be) trying to kill you even if you did fire shots at them. Not sure about how police protocol goes for motorcycle chases, but I don't think they're going to be trying pit manoeuvres on a bike any time soon.

I suppose it was kind of disappointing that they went with a fizzle rather than a bang, but the show overall was still enjoyable.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Finale

After years of hinting that Sons might get a spin-off, EW has learned that series creator Kurt Sutter is now in the preliminary stages of developing a new show set in the Northern California motorcycle club scene.

Details about the project are scarce. In fact, we only know one thing for certain about the proposed storyline: The project focuses on the Mayans—the Oakland-based Hispanic MC gang that had quite a rocky history with SAMCRO across seven seasons. In the original series, the Mayans run heroin factories and are also involved in prostitution. Their cuts bear the legend “Los Asesinos de Dios”—Assassins of God.

Sutter had previously teased the idea of doing an SoA prequel as recently as last month at Comic-Con, possibly as a limited series. FX won’t officially confirm whether the new series will be a prequel or not. Either way, creating a new drama set in the SoA-verse makes plenty of sense for FX as Sons ranks as the most popular show in the network’s history. Last December’s Sons finale was seen by a whopping 9.2 million viewers.

Sutter will executive produce the as-yet-untitled project, and is currently hunting for a showrunner to handle the Mayan’s day-to-day management. Sutter will remain focused on running his upcoming medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, which premieres Tuesday, Sept. 15 (and stars Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal and Ed Sheeran). Sutter also wrote the screenplay for the feature film Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which was released last month.

Not sold on the idea, a SAMCRO prequel would've been better if they really wanted to do a new project in the SoA universe.

Sutter can go fuck himself with the bullshit he wrote in the last couple of years.

Cue music montage.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Finale

I pretty much watched the last three seasons of SoA just to watch everyone die, and I'm still upset we didn't get to see Jack become roadkill.
