Re: Luther
Yeah, it's all so cliche, especially the last scene. Aiming much lower would have made more sense.
Re: Luther
Any info if there will be a fourth series?
Not according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_%28 … #Spin-offs
During a BBC Radio 4 interview in March 2012, co-creator Neil Cross revealed that plans were being made for a Luther film that would begin production at the conclusion of the third series, the show's last.
Re: Luther
Yes, this season has a lot of weaknesses. I still like the show though.
Re: Luther
Yeah, season one was by far the best season. Season two was pretty good, but season three was kinda 'meh'. I really hope they can return to season one's quality of writing for the movie.
Re: Luther
It is looking good for fans of hard-hitting British cop drama Luther, starring Idris Elba,, with a possible big-screen outing coming into focus.
With the BBC TV show created by Neil Cross ending after three seasons and the team ruling out more TV outings -- Elba was a producer as well as the show's star -- there is now talk of a movie version.
Cross has told British media that he is aiming to get a movie version made next year, having written a script as a prequel detailing how Elba's character, John Luther, ends up the dark, conflicted and hardened detective in the TV show.
The show creator said his script follows the detective's career in the earlier days, when he is still married to Zoe, and the final scene in the film is the first of the initial TV series.
The writer has already penned a prequel novel of sorts, The Calling, which focuses on a traumatic case involving a child killer and culminates in the detective receiving a seven-month suspension.
Cross told the Edinburgh International Television Festival last week that the TV show was finished because Elba is now an established movie star.
Not liking this idea, because it won't feature Alice.
Re: Luther
We just watched 301/302
Re: Luther
Finally got around to watch the last season. I'm agreeing with what's been said already. 3x1 was fantastic, imo. My gf bruised my arm at the under-the-bed scene, so creepy!! Also, the Stark/Grey thing was mostly annoying, with lots of less beliavable actions. Love Idris Elba, love Alice, gonna miss the show. Nelson Mandela coming up though.
Re: Luther
So they are planning a special episode after all

Re: Luther
ppl, there's also some GOOD news:
A day after Fox touted the development of a U.S. adaptation of British crime series “Luther,” BBC America has announced that the original iteration of the drama will return for a two-part miniseries in 2015.
Starring Idris Elba as DCI John Luther, the murder detective whose brilliant mind can’t always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions, the new series is written by creator Neil Cross. “Luther” hails from BBC Drama Production and the new series will be co-produced with BBC America. Elizabeth Kilgarriff will oversee for BBC Drama.
In a statement on the BBC revival, Cross said, “Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there’s hardly been a minute when I didn’t wonder what happened next. So I decided to find out. We’re putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.”
The two hourlong episodes will film in and around London in March, and the show is slated for a late 2015 premiere.
The U.S. adaptation has received a put pilot commitment from Fox. Elba is attached to executive produce alongside Cross but is not currently expected to star.

Re: Luther
After running across this thread, I located and binge watched all 4 seasons, just in the last couple weeks or so, and this show is terrifically entertaining, or maybe spell binding is the better term. When I was first introduced to the character Alice, I thought "What!? Are they crazy? Their favorite character?" but over time, I could see how you guys here came to like her. She is a strong character who has Luther's back, some self discipline, and discretion.
I did a net search and by all indications there may be a 5th season, but who knows when or how long it might be in the making. I hope it comes sooner rather than later.
Haha @ you guys that have the British/Americans dispute issues. You all remind me of this old song (and concept)
