Topic: Constantine
Constantine
John Constantine, a demon hunter and dabbling master of the occult, must struggle with his past sins while protecting the innocent from the converging supernatural threats that constantly break through to our world due to the "Rising Darkness". Balancing his actions upon the line of good and evil, Constantine uses his skills and a supernatural scry map to journey the nation to send these terrors back to their own world, all for the hope of redeeming his soul from eternal torment. Based on the characters in DC Comics’ stories about John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond. Constantine will officially debut on nbc Friday, October 24th at 10pm

Re: Constantine
Constantine pilot just hit the torrent sites The one new DC comics-based series pilot that wasn’t scheduled to debut at SDCC just got very accessible. The first (and reportedly quite excellent) episode of Constantine started turning up on your favorite torrent sites today, following last week’s leak of The Flash‘s initial episode. Re: Constantine
The current picture for this show is very misleading... I thought it was an animated series and didn't add it to my watchlist. As for the pilot, not in any hurry, gonna wait for a hd release.

Re: Constantine
Watched the pilot several days ago. It was OK, but not as exciting as the movie. Yes, I know the movie didn't follow the comics. Still, I'll watch the first 2 or 3 eps to give it a chance.

Maybe, maybe not. It's NBC, not FOX so I think it'll at least have one complete season (they didn't pull Crossbones or Dracula off the air). And it'll have Grimm as a lead-in so that's always something.

Re: Constantine
Ironside was on Wednesdays and it was a generic procedural so it's not like it died despite being good. I'm not saying Constantine will be better because we don't know yet, but at least the premise sounds more interesting. NBC seems to have changed its attitude recently... it's not pulling shows that have good critical reception.

Re: Constantine
Thanks for heads up! I liked the pilot, even if far from perfect. I hope they give us at least one season. I am hungry for some urban fantasy and that would do.

Re: Constantine
That was a very good pilot IMO, it made me a bit curious about the comic (and I usually don't give shit about comic books). So I'm excited about this show..

It looked a little brighter than the pre-release in June and they changed the end to accommodate the firing of the actress and the addition of a new female character.

Re: Constantine
I liked the first episode, my only worry about the show is that the actor playing Constantine is going to have to be great to carry the show. It's a very singular story if you have read the comics. I have hopes for the show, just hope they aren't dashed

Re: Constantine
Was constantine english in the comics? My only other knowledge is Keanu's version. While the movie wasn't great I really loved the concept, hopefully the series will explore it further.

latitude75 wrote:Yea I got all the comics in mint condition even (also all the hellraiser ones) and a huge fan of the series - they will have to work hard to get this one right. Not a fan of his accent neither but hoping that will grow on me...and all that bs talk about how to have him avoid smoking on screen when it's a HUGE thing in the story also really has me worried...so quite ambivalent so far!
I haven't read the comics, but I understand he is dying of lung cancer from smoking and the fact that he has a limited time on earth drives him to help as many people as possible and adds to the tension. If the TV show brings his dying up at all, they may just give him a non-specified cancer. Personally, I think showing him smoking then hacking up blood and bits of lung and unable to catch his breath might be a good thing. But American TV, ya know?

Re: Constantine
Pilot was made for people who are high on cocaine really, other wise it makes no sense why the speed of the episode was this high. Fast story for no particular reason, the story had a hole less than cheese does (or spongebob) and overall I was really disappointed with it. I hope it goes better soon.

Re: Constantine
I watched the pilot with my niece. She really liked it, but I felt the interaction between Constantine and the Angel was very stilted and not very fluid. Maybe it was supposed to be like that, but if I didn't have my niece offering to watch it with me, I probably wouldn't keep watching it. (maybe it doesn't help that I'm listening to Adam by Ted Dekker at this time on Books on Tape! It's about demon possession... LOL) Unfortunately I can't get her to watch Orphan Black with me, no matter how much I try. But I'll watch Constantine with her LOL.
