Would you miss out on too much backstory by doing this? I watched the first 2-3 and thought it was crap despite loving the marvel universe.
No, not too much. Apart from who deathlok is and how he is created - but thats not really important for the story. All the eps before 14 were crap and the eps from 16 onwards were great.
Is there a single episode where you get the deathlok backstory that i could include?
Not really - because it kinda spans a few episodes. But you can try episode 10, if I remember rightly, it has a fair amount of back story.

Significantly better - could have started the season from ep 14
I could have but would have felt I cheated

Well I watched it from episode 14 as recommended and I loved it! Man did it get better than the first 2 episodes lol. Very Whedonesque in the way the plot twisted and turned. Did it get renewed for a second season?

Apparently they were restricted in what they could do for the first twelve eps in order to sync with the next Captain America movie (which I have not had time to see yet). Yeah, the second season looks promising.

Yeah, I figured as much. Their biggest strenght (being a tie-in with Marvel movies) is their biggest weakness, because they have to dance to the tune of the movies. "Okay, so you have to build up this and this for this episode, till that time you have to wing it". Although to be fair, they could've done A LOT better than what they did.

Thing is the military didn't know he could morph into anything he touched. They didn't have the dossier, Coulson had from the Shield archives, ready for him. They did only see him morph while attacking the General and detained him. Still pretty dumb to just open the enclosure.

True enough, and yeah no reason to open it when they clearly could see it was empty allready - like they would open it and he suddenly would magically appear?

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Getting bored with this now. The only characters I like are Colson, Mac, and Tripp. Storyline is just meh. It's fast getting to be another series I d/l by habit instead of enthusiasm...

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Colson is a favorite for me simply because of his connection with the The Avengers movie; I would include Fury too but his participation is few and far inbetween. Mac is cool but I wouldn't consider him one of my favorites; I actually like May's mean streak and kick-ass demeanor more lol. Tripp's easily one of my favs too; ▼Spoiler too bad that all crumbled away back in episode 10. Overall this season has been meh for the most part but the remainder may salvage what was lost, or at the very least leave our tongues wagging for season 3. So far I've enjoyed Marvel's Agent Carter much, much more.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It greatly improved, this whole season has been serialized like the the last few episodes of S01. Agent Carter is still better tho.
