Re: The Tomorrow People
I have issues with this show, but the gun scene not so much. If your not used to getting shot at, panicking at first is expected.

Maybe I'll watch the rest of the season, one weekend during the summer.. Re: The Tomorrow PeopleI like it..but its slow, true. Still waiting for the big events(if any). Re: The Tomorrow PeopleIts not great but at least its better than Agents of shield lol Re: The Tomorrow PeopleGave up after the first episode... 31 2013-12-04 20:07:42 (edited by proteinnerd 2013-12-04 20:10:45)Re: The Tomorrow PeopleYet another show where the characters forget they have super powers when they need them. First sequence of last episode, when the bad guys show up, why do they run and hide behind a car? Why not teleport straight away? Oh yeah...better to wait until the sister is shot dead and then teleport out of there... and how pissed off would she be when she finds out the main guy could have stopped time when they shot at her like he did in the first episode? or did he forget he could do that too? You might argue that some of the bad guys are tomorrow people and could teleport after them? Well why did they need to drive there to attack them then? why not just teleport into the room to begin with? They really needed to introduce some limitations to the powers to explain stuff like this, or just explain that the genes responsible for the powers also make you as stupid as hell? Sloppy sloppy writing that treats the audience as if they are a stupid as the characters. I really like the concept but don't think i can put up with the crap much longer. Reminds me of the idiocy in Heroes. They initially thought it would be a good idea to give two characters amazing powers (Hiro could stop time, Peter could do everything from everyone he had been in contact with) but when it became obvious that such great powers would make all challenges too easy they instead of putting effort into crafting challenges just decided to make their powers very very unreliable. It's just the same now, he now he have stopped time and have until now done it atleast two times, but to avoid it becoming an overpowered ability the creators have decided to make it very unreliable and only a last resort. Do keep in mind that the ability to stop time is probably just something they decided to throw at him to prove that he is special. Oh hell, take Superman. They do the same shit there, his powers literally make it a writers nightmare to come up with good challenges so the cop out is to just add some kryptonite. Re: The Tomorrow PeopleEvery show doesn't need a intelligent/flawless plot. There is something charming about this show I can't put my finger on, stereotypes aside. About its flaws, they do fill in some plot holes which you'd see if you watched past episode 1 or 2. There are still flaws, but I see plenty of those in the supposedly intelligent shows as well. Re: The Tomorrow PeopleWe aren't talking about 2 episode..we are up to episode 8 and the poor writing has been pretty consistent. I don't think anyone expects a "flawless" plot from a sci fi show but what they are presenting really does treat the watcher like an idiot. One scene they are sparring each other, teleporting quickly behind each other and punching, kicking, grappling, telepporting out of locks etc etc...they are completely able to do it with incredible accuracy, whenever they need. Different scene, bad guys turn up, outside of the building, they have to get out of cars, then run up three? sets of stairs burst into the room. The good guys they have minutes to react....what do they do..they physically run down flights of stairs and hide behind a car when shot at...wait for the girl to get shot dead...then decides to casually teleport himself and the other girl out of there. How can anyone not think that is just poor sloppy writing and get annoyed? I understand they need to drive the story by her death but if you are going to create super humans as the basis of your story....you kinda have to take that into account. I really like the concept and want to enjoy the show..thats why I get so annoyed at it. Re: The Tomorrow PeopleYou know what, this is how easy it would have been to fix this shows issues with the main characters being overpowered. There are 2 other VERY rare types of tomorrow people and they have been recruited by the agency. The first is a remote viewer that can essentially scan for people telepathically, it can't penetrate underground so they are safe in their train station bunker and its not pin point accurate, just to a general location. Its very demanding so the telepath can only do if for an hour a day or a few seconds at a time. This explains why the good guys are so reluctant to go above ground.....The other flaw is the tomorrow people can tell they are being scanned/detected if they aren't too preoccupied but its very faint. The second types power can block others powers but again its demanding and they can't do anything else at the same time. So lets look at the shooting scenario from a more intelligent point of view. The good guys meet up with the agent and her sister. "Blah blah...wait, did you just feel that? I think they scanned us". Bad agents port in the building..maybe downstairs with the blockers (they can't port themselves). "Quick they are here, lets go"...they try to port out but it doesn't work...."they are blocking us, run." They run downstairs, shooting scene plays out. Maybe as a dying move the sister agent knocks out or distracts the blocker and the good guys port out. /end scene. Much more satisfying if i do say so myself. Doesn't treat the audience like idiots and creates a lot more possibilities for story arcs. Its not that hard and I just can't understand why the writers or creators of the show didnt come up with something like this themselves. Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: The Tomorrow Peopleok thats it, im out... Re: The Tomorrow PeopleOK season one is over In the last 5 or so episodes they actually made the overall story watchable but at the same time the teenage characters stupid, like in The 100. If they keep that up I will ditch it. It still can become a good entertaining series, but the stupid teenager stuff has to stop. Well it has to get renewed first, lets see Re: The Tomorrow PeopleBlackBox wrote:
I actually really like this show, closest things to Heroes since the good Heroes days (not the crappy season 3 days) Shame about the crappy teenagy stuff - i try to block it out. Re: The Tomorrow PeopleYeah why do the networks insist on forcing the teenage drama on us? Virtually every show that does it gets that aspect of the show condemned online....I just don't get it.
