Topic: Black Sails
Black Sails
The pirate adventure Black Sails centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic “Treasure Island”. Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver. Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day – a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality. http://youtu.be/vdthyoQ1A20 Starz is at it again with a historical action, question is, will it be another Spartacus masterpiece, or a Camelot failure... Looks promising, hope its good, i like pirates.

Re: Black Sails
Pilot episode was very good... the visuals look excellent for a tv series, the cast is good (although I needed some time to accept Toby Stephens playing a serious role after seeing him not long ago in Vexed), plus it has one thing that Starz is know for and that's boobies.

Re: Black Sails
I liked the beginning, the end and the girls but besides that i'm not convinced yet. Spartacus was a lot more engaging to me, maybe because i have troubles again understanding the actors as many of them seem to be british.

Re: Black Sails
I think my main problem was the selfproclaimed chef. It would appear that the writers somehow wants us to cheer for him, since he was supposed to be this easygoing funny charismatic kind of guy. But every action he took, with the presentation (i am a coward) and so on I found him very annoying.

i dont think thats their plan, ▼Spoiler considering almost everybody in one way or another know of Long John Silver and his role in "Tresaure Island"

Re: Black Sails
It's good, quite good but some people like to put it on the same level or near as GoT... Oooh no it's not THAT good. Very far from it. In watchlist nonetheless.

i Think its a little early to give full judgement, but the initial impression, is that its not as good as GoT or Spartacus, but still very promising.

Re: Black Sails
I think it was a very promising start Some good characters with mostly good acting. It has the chance to be a very good show and I will follow it

Re: Black Sails
Second episode was so booooring. I didn't expect it to have action scenes (and explosions ) in each episode, but they went too far in the opposite direction. Plus instead of focusing more on the characters they're clearly going for the intrigues, schemes and the political background. I'll probably give it one or two more chances, but it doesn't look like it'll last on my watchlist.

Re: Black Sails
Yeah, at least Spartacus had plenty of action and T&A to keep you entertained between bouts of scheming and soap opera stuff. I'll monitor the discussions and maybe come back if Black Sails finds its mojo.

Re: Black Sails
I was hoping for a Spartacus on boats with pirates, which it's not, that's why i was pretty disappointed. But since i lowered my expectations quite a bit, i can atleast watch it without tieing myself to a chair. But maybe it's only because of the girls i watch it, i dont know. If you have spare time check it out, if you are already busy with other shows, skip it.
