Well Red John was obvious based on the actor. Once he was on the list it was clear it would be him. He's a villain in everything he plays. I was hoping they would make him more sinister instead of just kind of blah. I know the actor can play eviler villains then what was shown. Next episode is a two year time jump.

Re: 6x08
It was an ok episode, but I'm afraid it didn't live up to my expectations. The main problem seems to be that the actor for the role of RJ was too obvious imo and as for the character to be honest I liked the "fake" RJ from season 3 better. The only "fresh" thing about the real RJ was that he begged for his life.. not something I would expect. As for the rest of the season... maybe it'll be about revealing Lisbon as Red Jane?

At least it was quick. I hate when they drag these endings out. Now there are two more eps to serve, apparently, as a coda. Not too shabby if done right.

Re: 6x08
As Red John have been the arch line for six years I would have expected something more. The episode seemed like a rush job where the writes just said "Fuck it, let's get this shit over with".

Re: 6x08
As i said in my previous post, i still believe in the theory of Red John = Red Herring for Pat Jane => Red ... Jane => Lisbon but apart from the fact that i still hope/think that, the RJ they presented just now somehow does not fit into the previous RJ behaviour to A. Beg for his life B. Be sorry for the killing of Patricks family (which kind of implies A) it might just have been another fanboy happy to die for his master so that he can regroup. so maybe we are really looking for another RJ here, and this was just another one of the several duds we already saw, with the most recent one being Bertram.

Re: 6x08
The creators made it clear, this is the end of Red John. They've put a lot of focus on Red John in the last season just to conclude it. Heller even said in an interview that there would be no new Red John mysteries, no unanswered questions that they would clear up. Red John is dead and Patrick have closed that chapter in his life. With your A and B, A does make sense when you see what Patrick points out about how RJ have delusions of grandeur. Imagine the great Red John that have eluded law enforcement for more than 30 years, have built a huge secret organization that manipulate California Law encforcement is to die in a church by the hands of Patrick Jane after his elaborate plot to fake his own death? RJ have battled with PJ for years and for what, just to die because of a pidgeon? It does make sense for someone with delusions like that to beg for their life because they don't see the death worthy of them. Apologizing to Jane is the same, RJ would at that time said anything trying to please Jane. What RJ don't understand is that it was that moment that Jane won. He made Red John realize that killing Jane's family was the mistake that cost him his life.

Yeah I think a bullet in the stomach would turn even the most megalomaniacal serial killer into a blubbering mess, maybe even more so because he thought he was so powerful and clever and he was reduced to nothing by the man he thought he had "beaten" in his sick game.... I'm just glad Jane actually went through with it and strangled him to death. I did think for a second he was going to do the whole "I can't kill a helpless man" thing, turn away, red john pop and and lunge for him and patrick shoot him in self defence ...but no, Patrick got to kill him with his bare hands when he was essentailly defenceless....the psychopath in me really liked that.

Bruno Heller wrote:Will those Red John disciples in the Blake Association still be after Patrick Jane? HELLER: I never say never, but I would say that I think the audience and the story demand that we step away from that trope for awhile. The trouble with these sorts of stories, where you’re playing tricks on the audience with who-is-it mysteries, is that you can get way too mysterious. There are a lot of people who said, all the way along, that Patrick Jane is Red John. When you’ve got that kind of elaborate thinking out there, it’s dangerous to come back to stories, unless you’re coming back to that story with full force ‘cause people will start thinking, “Oh, maybe Red John is not dead.” Red John is dead. It’s past that point, in terms of the narrative of the story. HELLER: We won’t be going back. One of the things that you discover when these figures of great evil are unmasked, in real life, is that once the curtain is pulled back from these evil Wizard of Oz characters, they tend to be not very interesting dinner companions. They tend to be egomaniacal, one-track-mind type of guys. There are a lot of questions about motivation, and what he was doing when and how, and how that connects to other things. That makes great internet fodder, but it’s not very entertaining for the weekly TV audience, so there won’t be much of that. Even though some people would love to delve into that, it’s not what the show does, on a weekly basis.

Re: 6x08
The timing seems appropriate as it appears that the show will not be renewed for another season.

I think the aftereffects of the discovery of the Blake Association, and RJ's roles as its leader, will be interesting. A lot of shows with a series finale (Lost, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Chuck, Shield) could benefit from a coda.

Because the creators want to change the profile of the show. They feel the Red John arc is too dark and in an attempt to salvage the show they've ended the Red John arc and will use the remaining episodes trying to make a lighter show that appeals more to the masses. There won't be any. Heller made it clear that the Red John chapter is closed and Jane have moved on.

Re: 6x08
There are aftereffects that are unresolved. For example; what happens to CBI and, for that matter, Jane himself. There are two more episodes this season and they cannot ignore the the aftereffects of the RJ takedown.

Or, like, 14.
