Nice teaser trailer. Hopefully it'll be more mature than Pacific Rim (which wasn't exactly a bad thing in PR's case, but I want a darker monster film ).

Re: GodzillaI want the new movie (franchise) to stay true to the japanese. Of course each restart offers something new but as long as it doesnt go in the zilla direction it should be fine. I do really like the many japanese takes on it and from what I understand the japanese company have tried to take precautions when selling the rights this time to make sure it is not messed up and that they are involved in the development. The teaser is exciting even if we dont learn much. I thought Pacific Rim was a great monster film. It was easy to see it had many influences from the Godzilla franchise. Re: Godzillahahaa! when i saw the title of the thread i burst out laughing. This is my original nickname in teh interwebs, but since many idiots started to use it after 1998 movie i changed mine to godzionu. and of course how can i not laught when xrnzaaas starts the thread Re: Godzillaxrnzaaas wrote:
sheesh. i did not say that. but the 1998 movie made it more wideknown. Re: Godzillaxrnzaaas wrote:
quite possibly both. Re: GodzillaRe: GodzillaNow that's a big ass monster... ▼Spoiler And I like the main trailer... for once it doesn't spoil half the movie: Re: GodzillaGreat. The Americans are going to save us all. Again. *sigh* 2020. Meh.

Don't get me wrong, Bryan Cranston is great, but I think it's going to take more than an old Chemistry teacher to save yet another Hollywood special effects fest. I imagine I will still see it though. 2020. Meh.

Pacific Rim, despite its childishness, was a much better monster flick. Still, there were some nice scenes, Godzilla had cool roars and unlike the previous US movie he wasn't "the bad guy". I hope that they hire some better writers for Godzilla 2, because the director surely has talent and some of the parts of the movie reminded me of good moments from Monsters (and also Cloverfield). Re: GodzillaOne would have imagined they would figure out at some point that assault rifles are useless here. Oh and the nuke bit - still weaker then the czar bomb. 20 2014-08-23 09:58:02 (edited by xrnzaaas 2014-08-23 10:51:48)21 2014-08-23 15:16:30 (edited by latitude75 2014-08-23 15:17:03)Re: GodzillaRandom characters wont work for hollowood and theire american hero settings...however thought it was ok and entertaining enough. Re: GodzillaSadly you're right. Teaser trailer hinted that the new Godzilla movie will be a more ambitious and darker project, like Monsters only with a bigger budget. First full trailer was also a good cover up... sure, it did introduce some of the characters, but it didn't say that the story would revolve around them. It also didn't say how unoriginal they would be. Sadly the movie itself didn't resemble the coolness that the trailers have promised. But like I've said... it's not a shitfest like the previous Godzilla movie and I wouldn't mind getting a sequel but with a better script. Re: GodzillaTOHO is producing a new work of its iconic film monster Godzilla for release throughout Japan in 2016. It will be the first Godzilla film by TOHO since 2004's Godzilla Final Wars (pictured right). According to the Cinema Today website, the "legendary" Japanese franchise is undergoing a revival, in response to the heightened fan support after Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures' Hollywood Godzilla film became a worldwide hit. Edwards' film has opened in 63 countries and territories, and has earned over 57 billion yen (about US$470 million) worldwide, including 3.2 billion yen (US$26 million) in Japan alone. Production of the new film will run from summer to fall of next year, and TOHO is assembling the staff. It will have no direct ties with Edwards' film, but will instead be an entirely new Godzilla film. Edwards and Legendary Pictures are separately planning a sequel to their own film. Nice, new Godzilla flick from Japan. I'm curious about the budget and if they'll use a rubber Godzilla again. Posts: 23Forums - Next Episode → Movies General Discussion → Godzilla |
