Topic: The Bridge (US)
The Bridge (US)
A present-day crime thriller exploring the tensions on the US-Mexico border. When an American judge known for her anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge connecting El Paso and Juarez, Sonya Cross from El Paso PD must work with her Mexican counterpart from Chihuahua State Police, Marco Ruiz, to catch a serial killer operating on both sides of the border. Marco understands the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement, and while his police force slowly succumbs to the pressures and demands of the cartel, he's one of the last good men in the department. He's charming, but will do whatever it takes to get what he needs -- which doesn't sit well with Sonya, who has Asperger's and strictly follows rules and protocol. The case quickly pulls them into a string of murders on the border, a scene already consumed by illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution. Finally got around to watch the pilot. It was okay, nothing big but also nothing bad. Let's see how creative they really are with the next few episodes.

Re: The Bridge (US)
Parts were good, like the ending other parts were boring. Not feeling it just yet but atleast Diane Krüger has found a role where her stiffness and lack of acting abilities fit.

Re: The Bridge (US)
Kruger's pretty good, she just hasn't had very challenging parts so far. She apparently knows how to do what the director asks of her. Her co-star is a big star in Spanish language media and did a great job in Weeds.

Re: The Bridge (US)
I like it, it focuses more on the drama and the whole 'bridge', but also shows the investigations. Although they really should keep Kruger's awkwardness and social inability to the minimum, 'cause that's not interesting, in contrary to everything else.

I'm not sold yet. I will watch a few more eps but I wasn't impressed that much. The mexican detective is the best character so far and played by a good actor. Kruger's character is too weird (and not in a good way most of the time, even though she managed to make me laugh here and there). I was hoping for something more atmospheric like The Killing but it's not even close.

They got a lot of interesting plot lines in play, and a bunch of good actors.

I thought Krueger's character(Sonya Cross) was interesting. There are people with all sorts of personalities, yet most we ever see in tv shows are very cookie cutter kind of detectives, it's a breath of fresh air to see a show steer clear of that. As for the show as a whole, I'm not convinced yet. We'll see.

Re: The Bridge (US)
I've worked with (and supervised) people with Aspergers and it takes getting used to. Some call Aspergers the "genius gene" and consider it a gift not a disability. It does tend to show up in some very bright and capable people, but the kind of folk who are a bust at a dinner party or office gossip.

Another good episode. It wasn't as good as 1x02, but still entertaining.

I'm really liking where this show is going, and especially Kruger's performance. I find her Aspergers portrayal very convicing and she's a pleasure to watch.

A large and talented cast is being given many interesting story lines by the writers. I just hope the writers can keep it up.

I just finished the swedish/danish original, is this version worth the watch? Compared to the original, I mean.

I dunno, but I find the US version very compelling, the newest episode was great.

Re: The Bridge (US)
This show really jumps from one thing to another; first it explores the social differences on the border, then it changes into a fast-paced manhunt, then it slows down into a calm walk. I really like it, really, I only hope they will find more of a consistant mood for Season 2. And Sonia & Marko are quickly becoming one of my favorite tv pairs and join the group of "If I were a milioner I would pay them to play their characters 24/7".

Re: The Bridge (US)
It didn't really feel like a season finale, which is probably one of the problems of the show. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the hell out of it, but it felt sooo disjointed (as previously stated). I'm waiting with excitement for S02, I'm just hoping they will have a one idea for a whole season.
