Topic: Brilliant episode this week

Thought I'd share some impressions on the latest Doctor Who ep since I just finished watching it.

Once again, when Steven Moffat takes the helm, I remember why I love Doctor Who; His script was brilliant this week : he always manages to find new ways of using time paradoxes to tell excellent stories. It really contrasts with previous episodes which I found a bit dull and sometimes riddled with silly dialogues !

Attention ! Some spoilers ahead !

I can only hope this bodes well for the big underlining story that has been going on since the beginning of this season ; maybe this new character who seems to know the doctor pretty well has something to do with the rose story arc that ought to reveal itself soon?

There's something that's been bothering me though : in episode 5 of this season ( at least, I think it was the fifth), the oods told the doctor that his song was going to end soon, a metaphor for his life. In this new episode though, the mysterious archaeologist  woman implies he is still young and has many things to do. That leads me to believe that maybe the oods were talking about Donna (since she seems to be gone) or maybe a new ( and last if my count is right) incarnation of the Doctor?

Last but not least, anyone here has any idea who the mysterious little girl is? or what links the archaeologist to the Doctor?

Re: Brilliant episode this week

I thought the timlords had 13 incarnations.  David Tennant is only the 10th.  And anyway, hasn't The Master had way more than that?  So there are obviously ways round it.

But yes, I agree, bloody good episode.  smile

Re: Brilliant episode this week

I just checked wikipedia and it states that there's a limit of 12 incarnations but methods exist to circumvent that limit...I guess we'll eventually find out big_smile

I thought it was 12 regenerations, but that means 13 incarnations.  big_smile

Re: Brilliant episode this week

Maybe him being the last of the timelords will allow him to reincarnate more times??or something along those lines... I cant really see the Doctor resorting to the various methods like the master (essentially stealing bodies from people). Don't forget though... he has a "daughter" out there now, maybe she was put in as a possible future replacement??

I wouldn't want to be in Donna's place, the reaction she got when the archaeologist realized who she was makes me thing she doesn't have long to live...never really liked her anyway ;P

Re: Brilliant episode this week

I don't think Donna is dead, she was "saved" I think she was uploaded to the data core of the planet along with everyone else and next week he'll save them all.

This is not a spoiler, it's my own theory.

Re: Brilliant episode this week

It seems reasonable to assume your theory (or some form of it) will be part of the resolution in the next ep but I was so hoping they'd get rid of Donna : I can't stand her. It's a big step down from Rose and Martha...

Re: Brilliant episode this week

I actually quite like Donna.  I wasn't expecting to, because she annoyed me in the Christmas episode, but I like how she isn't mooning over the Doctor like Rose and Martha did.  She doesn't treat the Doctor like the sun shines out his arse - she respects him, but she teases him too.  I like the relationship the two of them have.

Re: Brilliant episode this week

i think the archeologist is a future companion of the doctor.
I quite like donna as the current companion, she seesm to give the doctor some compassion, but the reaction she got from the acheologist  does imply that she plays a big part in the doctors life. maybe something she does/happens to her causes the doctor to lose control and do something bad?!

Re: Brilliant episode this week

Whatever Donna's fate, I'm loving the fact that Steven Moffat is in charge now, in that one episode he managed to quite clearly state, "Here I am, and I have plans for the Dr"

Future is looking bright for some awesome episodes ;D
