Topic: It's Official: Renewed for a Ninth and Final Season

Those two kids who've been sitting around waiting for Ted to get to the point of his damn story received some great news today: The tale of how their dad met their mother will finally be told. CBS has ordered a ninth and final season of How I Met Your Mother, and yes, the network promises to reveal the identity of the mother before the series goes off the air for good.

The entire cast will be back for the sendoff, as will creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

The big question is when viewers will meet the mother. We know Ted meets her at Robin and Barney's wedding, which will take place at the end of the current season, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll know her identity at the end of this season or the beginning of the next. She could be a bridesmaid, the caterer, the flower girl, the valet parker, or even a groomsman (it's the 2010s, people, get with the times!). Or, if you insist, the base player in the wedding band. Or maybe Season 9 will be Ted having flings with half the women from the wedding and the identity of the mother will play out like some PBS mystery show. Maybe the mother is actually a test tube. I don't know.

Let's all just be happy that the nation's biggest question will be answered and Ted's kids can finally get on with their lives.

Anyway - let it end and twitter the story - there not more to it, than one tweet. It started ok and got worse since than. But since i am kind of a tv-addict i have to watch it to the final episode. sadly. :-(

The show is still fun. Actually I don't care anymore who the mother is. I'm more worried that the Barney and Robin marriage will put an end to Barney's awesomeness. We'll have two couples a baby and Ted. I hope that's enough to fill two seasons hmm

I thought the last 2 or 3 episodes were a little better than the disappointing last 2 seasons....kinda glad its got an end in sight, I used to think the show was up there with the best but now when I think of it, I only remember it being tired and dragging on way to long.  sad

My theory is all shows should end after five seasons. They all just drag on after that. Very few shows get better after the fifth year.

I see it a bit different. Yes it's difficult (nearly impossible) to keep the quality up for 8/9 seasons but aslong as there are people who still enjoy watching it (like me), they should continue making it.

If you don't belong to those people anymore, drop it and move to other shows. If enough people have dropped it, they will cancel it anyway but till then i keep on enjoying the ride, even tho it might not be as good as it once was.
