Yes, this was not very good. One guy at av-club wrote it was overstuffed, and that is how i felt too i think. Too much going on, too much of everything. It is kind of hard to put your finger on what the problem was.

They tried to confirm our fear we had about a new show runner and than try and shows us we shouldn't be worried. At least to me that what it seemed like with the intro and inside Abed's head. It seemed like the tried just a little to hard to be meta.

well i have to agree with you all: not among the best ones

but, personally, i don't know why, i always found the opening episodes of every single season a lot worst than the rest. it is like they always start sloppy and then get better and better in the long run. anyone had the same impression?

in season1 yes .... but thats the only season start i can remember
