Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
I don't really get that feeling from BSG but I sure as hell get it from Lost. They pretty much wasted 2 seasons telling stories that have nothing to do with what's happening on the island now. I mean, Ben only showed up in 2.14 and now, the show is basically revolving around him.
No I know exactely what you mean. Eg. at what time did they decise who the final five was? Have they known that all along or did they make it up as they went along and saw have the development in each character was recieved by the fans?
I don't know when exactly they decided about the Final Five but my future husband Aaron Douglas [Chief Tyrol] said in an interview that the writers decided it using pics of every cast member and switching them until they were satisfied.
Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Maybe they don't do much battles anymore, cause they out of ammo. They've been at it for quite a while now, haven't they.
Now they only show the debris the cylons have blown out of the sky. Really miss those neat fighter battles and explosions and shit like that. There hasn't been a threat of imminent peril to the fleet for a while now. Just some armed bitches shooting unarmed bitches and prophecies.
I just hope they don't do the wrong thing and make Starbuck the 5th. They might as well find Earth and then discover Britney Spears is really a malfunctioning skin job. Although a programming error would certainly explain a lot of things .
Anyway, i think the show lacks passion now. It used to be suspense all the time, now they keep yapping about visions and all other kinds of fucked up shit. Though the role Baltar is cool, it'd be awesome to have a harem like that.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Anyone else get the feeling that along the way the writers changed their minds about what the hell was going to happen? It doesn't have the same feel as something like Lost, where they have a set story and know what major things are going to happen ahead of time.
It almost feels like the show kept getting extended longer than they planned and they had to change the direction to fill up another 20 odd episodes.
or is it just me?
I feel the opposite,
BSG actually has a story arc and a story "bible" and is actually going somewhere albeit soemwhat slowly, while in Lost they're reaaally making it up as they go along. I think JJ and the Lost writers are just a bit better at making it seem like they have a set story by keeping everything so open ended and convoluted that your mind fills in the blanks and you get the impression that things have progressed and were planned out when they really weren't. Lots of question are just answered with more questions, and for every mystery answered, 5 more mysteries are introduced. They have so many mysteries, they can just pick and choose a few to resolve and throw to the audience as a bone.
I've had enough of JJ since Alias Season2. I loved Season1, but by season2 you could see he didn't have things planned out and just slips it into a relationship show and autopilot. Then they started bringing in clones to resurrect people they killed off and Alias officially got ridiculous.
After watching how bad Alias got, you see the same tricks in Lost. They already brought back Michael from the dead already with no real purpose, while some other character could have sufficd. Just wait a few more episodes for them to officially bring Walt-clone2 (not just Walt-ghost) who does something more then be some strange mystery.
Here's a couple of links, discuss!

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
The problem is not in the lasers, as it was stated MULTIPLE times in the thread, the problem is in the shaman voodoo bullshit. Let's put it in the simplest terms possible (yeah, I'm totally going for the flame there):
Apolo's grab for power = good.
Caprica suddenly becoming knocked up by the love that she shares with a bald 60 year old with no viagra in sight = bad.
Let's put another one in there, for good measure:
The hybrid waking up and shouting JUMP = Cool.
Adama leaving the fleet in his, and this is important, apparently worn out flight suit, to read a book and wait for the dying love of his sorry old life in a, and this is important, one of the very few raptors that they have left. = Not Cool.
btw, not sure if I mentioned this earlier in the thread, so I'm just going to go ahead and do it again - SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF, MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?
Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
What makes you think there is anything mystical about BSG?
From day one Baltar has seen an Invisible Six.
We now know she lifted him, that means she is no illusion.
What kind of technology can create that ?
Making people see things they interprate as religious should be a minor thing by comparison.
Remember, the cylons have a lvl of technology roughly comparable to the humans, probably a little more advance, perhaps alot more in some fields.
But the final 5...?
We know theyve done stuff the other cylons know nothing about, they could be pulling the strings from day one here, and all that "voodoo shit" is just our ignorance.
Oh and my candidate for the last Cylon is the Doc. It just makes perfect sense.
