Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
Even having not seen this season the finale was predictable imo.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
I'm glad it was given an ending. I always appreciate a show more when it gets a chance to wrap up even if it only has a season or two. As far as sci fi is concerned, this was the best show running for the genre. I'm hoping with this over, we will get a worthy replacement.
I enjoyed Fringe all the way through, thank you for keeping me entertained for so long.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
Goodbye Fringe. You've been a loyal friend for 5 years. You'll be missed.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
Nicely done. They had saved the universe in an earlier season, now they saved the future. The finale covered a lot of ground. We got to see the other universe, an older Olivia. All the bad guys got what they had coming and the leads lived happily ever after all over again. The final scene was cute, referencing an episode in the second season in which a time traveler sent a message to Walter.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
fk-ing loved it! Great wrap-up (predictable, yeah, but what did you expect really?)
bye bye Fringe! ;'-( I think it was one of my last sc-fi shows I watched - seriously, everything good ended or got canceled already.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
I somehow expected more, that should teach me not to get to hyped up over a series finale hyped up trailer. However I thought it got wrapped up nicely enough - though I just didn't want it to end. R.I.P. Fringe!
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
I liked the ending :-)
Mass we can live in hope of a suitable replacement
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
A very solid and emotional ending, they didn't overthink it or didn't try to do too much, and that's a good thing.
Will miss you.
Also interesting point:
At home, Peter found the letter Walter was talking about in 2036, and in it was a drawing of a white tulip—which, to Walter, represented forgiveness from God for the atrocities he'd committed. But it's Peter's reaction that should have the Fringe fandom gabbing for weeks. Walter's plan worked and time was reset, effectively meaning the events after the Observer invasion never happened. Season 5 didn't really happen to this Peter and Olivia. But Peter picked up his head as though memories came flooding back to him. Did he just realize that his father had done something grave? Did he actually remember his dad's sacrifice from the time that supposedly was erased? Or did Peter just think, "WTF a white tulip?" Again, ambiguity—sweet, beautiful ambiguity—rules, and it's up to you to think it out for yourself and choose the ending that works best for you.

Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
I liked the ending, was hoping for more, but what more can you ask for.
Fringe was the show that lived up to its own premise.
I LOVED the final showdown between Olivia and Windmark, when the lights went out behind her... DAMN!!
It made me think back to season one, when Olivia turned off the lights, to stop a bomb.... so long ago...
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
wait hold on if they reset time doesnt that mean observers dont exist which means peter died as a kid since one of them pulled him out of the water before drowning right?
The Truth is Out There,
I Want to Believe")
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
There are a lot of theories on that one. And on the fact that if they didn't exist then Walternate wouldn't have been distracted by September in the lab and he would discover the cure for Peter's disease. But as Walter succeeded in the future that doesn't necessarily mean the observers didn't exist. Just that they didn't invade.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
That was mentioned in the last season, that by getting the observer kid to Norway in the future would create kinder and gentler observers who would not be inclined to invade. They would still need Peter to help solve the two universes problems. If that was not addressed, there would be no future Norway to discover the tech that led to the observers.

Was just thinking about that, thank you.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
In effect, the series Finale turned the Observers from invaders to Time Guardians (tm).
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
Also, from imdb:
everything was explained.
In season 4 finale september shows up and warns walter about the invasion. 3 years forward season 5 starts. invasion in the day of the park scene. they go to amber, wake up about 20 years later, and in the end walter creates a paradox by stoping the invasion by going to 2100 something year. Why is it a paradox? Because Walter only went to stop the invasion in 2036, because in 2015 there was an invasion. if he stoped the invasion then how would he get to 2036 again to stop something that never happened? Hence his explanation he had to go with the boy and disapear. And why 2015? Because that's the date the invasion ocurred, that starts the paradox. That precise day at the park. That's why Walter was alive and well in 2015, and everything happened the same way we saw the first four seasons. At that day in the park the paradox occurs, and the future from that moment on, is left to the viewer to imagine, since the show ends there. It's safe to assume that peter olivia and Etta will live happily, and Walter will live in the 2100+ future.
If there's new observers or not, it's not mentioned. But until 2015 the observers were the same, september, august, etc. All happened the same way, because the paradox only happened in 2015. So the time reset happened in 2015.
So here's what happens at the end:
All we see until the end of season 4 HAPPENED as we saw, including the weird time reset that erased Peter, and then brought back.
Season 5 begins with the day at the park. This is the day things change. We see Peter Olivia Etta at the Park, in the EXACT SAME SCENARIO, with the exact same dialog. The difference is, the invasion doesn't occur.
Then Peter receives the letter, meaning that Walter disappeared, like he explained in the tape. Walter disappeared the day the scene of the Park took place, since, again, all things that happened the first 4 seasons were exactly the same.
The paradox only starts at 2015.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
only just got round to watching.... wow! best final episodes I think ive ever seen
for me
"you can stop checking out my young ass!" awesome!!!
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
I was sooooooooooo disappointed. So disappointed.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
What type of ending would you have preferred?
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*

Impossible for me to say really, that's for the writers to think up and impress me with. But that ending just didn't do it for me. Having said that, the last couple of seasons haven't impressed me really, certainly this season. I think Fringe used to be great, then they created confusing timelines and universes, then jumped and stayed in the future and it just bored me.
Shame, but there you go.

Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
Looks like Fringe is not going to be FOX's last sci-fi project. Glad to see they're not giving up...
Fox and the team behind Fringe are going back to the future.
The network has made a pilot order for an untitled drama from J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman that’s being billed as an action-packed buddy cop show set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Re: The series finale *spoilers will probably be here*
What really still bothers me is the two scenes where the child observer make the sign of silence for Olivia. What does it mean? What doesn't he wants her to tell? What have he told her?
