Re: Elementary
Sherlock is the thinking man's version of Sherlock Holmes and this show is oh look shiny object.
The part with the flashback with the coffee cups was like Psych, but they should have done the floating text like they do on Sherlock. I know that can't since copycat and what not, but I think the floating text to show us everything he sees is the smartest new innovation when it comes to that sort of thing.
Re: Elementary
but this show is way better than Sherlock.
Seriously? No one thought to have a sketch artist sit down with the neighbour to get a description of the 'doctor'.
No show is perfect and you have to sacrifice some things for plot but that's a pretty blatant miss for a guy like Sherlock Holmes
Re: Elementary
Well at least the obvious is out of the way about what brought Sherlock to New York and caused his drug problem.
Re: Elementary
Vinny Jones!!! despite that it was a good episode
Re: Elementary
What was up with his voice or was I just hearing things? It seemed a lot weaker than normal
Re: Elementary
yeah it did, think he tried to tone down his ascent
Re: Elementary
Maybe it was because of the presence of Vinnie Jones, who is larger than life (literally) and just oozes "Brit".
Re: Elementary
I dont know why but I hate Vinnie Jones.
Re: Elementary
I dont know why but I hate Vinnie Jones.
He's not an actor and that fact is painfully apparent whenever I see him in a TV show or movie. Awful.
Re: Elementary
That kind of casting worked on the Sopranos. Are British thugs all that different? Vinnie got the job done on Elementary.
Re: Elementary
Had to look him up never heard of the guy before. Then I saw he was a soccer player and realize why I never heard of him before. I didn't have a problem with him but I was more focused on trying to figure out if Johnny was sick or what he was doing with his voice.
The only knack for this show is just the story telling is so damn predictable.
Re: Elementary
True, I much prefer Sherlock but I think Elementary is still more than good enough to keep watching side by side with Sherlock.
Re: Elementary
Their no doubt Sherlock is a better written show, but can't really say one set of actors are better than the other.
Re: Elementary
I think it is an okay show but i dont think he who plays Sherlock is that great and the script is weak at times. Lucy Liu is pretty. She wins out against Martin Freeman there. Freeman is a much better actor.
Elementary barely made it on my watch list. Sherlock is one of the top shows on it.
Re: Elementary
Sherlock is as predictable as Elementary. To Yanks the British cultural quirks may make Sherlock seem more exotic, but it works the same way for non-Americans viewing Elementary.
Re: Elementary
No most episode of Sherlock are a bit predictable, some parts aren't. It's just we've already been given twice the episode number as Sherlock so it's more noticeable. Sherlock however is a mini series this is a TV series. Writers have less than two weeks for each scripit while Sherlock as months.
It's just like how each Doctor plays the character different as do both of the actors in playing Sherlock and Watson.
Re: Elementary
Sherlock seems more engaging and has two very strong actors that have good chemistry together while Elementary is kinda similar to other crime shows where a smart guy solves murders - you just don't care about the characters that much.
On the other hand I hated Moriarty in Sherlock but something tells me that he will be better in Elementary...
Re: Elementary
John Hannah. A very good episode, they are really pulling this off.
Yeah was a good episode, although watching this makes me want to watch damages again John was good in the final season
Re: Elementary
from my 3 month tv show absence cathing up 6 episodes of Elemntary is just plain awesome. I want more and more.
Re: Elementary
well there's going to be 23episodes instead of 22
