Topic: Girls
Girls
Lena Dunham, creator of 2010's critically acclaimed independent film, Tiny Furniture, partners with Judd Apatow for a new series on HBO. The show, much like Dunham's film, takes a comically wry and offbeat look at the ups and downs of a group of twenty-something girlfriends living in New York City. The cast includes Dunham as Hannah, an intern at a publishing house in SoHo; Marnie, a motivated assistant at a political PR firm and Jessa; a down-to-earth girl who wants to be an artist and teacher. Well, there's lot of hate for this one. I personally like it, but do not consider it as comedy, more of a dramedy. It's hard for me to say, because I don't live in NY and I'm certainly not a girl, but I enjoy the interactions between them, it feels realistic to me. Dunhams writing does seem to have a "social manifesto" vibe and I'm buying it. I like the cast, I sympathize with the characters and although they might seem anyoning, a lot of us are by that time (said a brat). And it has probably one, or maybe the, most awkward and/or terryfing sex scenes on TV. Ugh. Your opinion?

Re: Girls
Main female Character is annoying - check Awkward sex scene - check One hot chick - check Sympathize with characters - uncheck Dunno if this one hot chick convinces me to check out the next ep but it's probably not enough to follow it.

Re: Girls
To whom it may concern, I'm really astonished how Dunham created the character of Adam, where she created him as a onesided hateful character, but it was to show, that we didn't really knew him and didn't want to. Although he still does crazy shit. I find it great.

Re: Girls
Barely made it to the end of the first episode. Superficial boring stuff that I thought was written by nothing more than a young adult and was confirmed when I saw the age of the writer/creator/actress... Pass... I'm probably too old to find it interesting or more appropriatly, too "blazé" to enjoy this.
Myka : You slept with her didn't you ? Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

Re: Girls
I'm 37 years old and adore this show so not sure what age demographic you guys think it is intended for. Makes me a bit sick that someone as young as Lena Dunham can be so amazingly talented. Also very brave to do those sex scenes with her less than perfect frame. This is THE antidote to the Sex In The City generation. Major props to HBO for commissioning this and deciding to stick with it. Orlando, Adam must be based on a real dude he is just too whacky but still very believable and highly entertaining. what did he say in the last episode? You would so totally fuck a 4 year old me?

Re: Girls
Did the show improve form the pilot? I walked away from the pilot feeling the show was bland didn't see the potential, but it does seem to get a lot of praise. So I'm just wondering if it just had a weak pilot or if the show just isn't for me.

Re: Girls
Snow? Oh that white thing that covers the ground from november to early april-ish... Why would that stop you from going out?
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.
