Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves. Re: DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILMSooo they are going to make a number 7, then 8 and 9 and then a new one every 2 or 3 years from that - well why not - dont reeally see the problem here. Not like they are going to delete the old ones that the blood fans care so much for. How is this really upsetting? Just dont get it.... They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
Re: DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILMIf you have to be in the movie business, I think its a genius move by Disney. The biggest threat to the movie houses is internet piracy right? Well I think you can minimise lost earnings by focusing on big blockbuster movies with great SFX that the most likely people that pirate will want to see on the big screen, i.e. make movies the geeks want to see in all their glory on huge screens in 3D and then release bluRay's with shorts and lots of extra = geeks will most likely pay and not pirate... 19 2012-10-31 08:59:31 (edited by latitude75 2012-10-31 10:07:02)Re: DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILMPiracy aint killing killing the movie houses, theire biggest threat is themselfs. But I do see your point in the fact that you want them to get richer and earn alot more than they do now (they earn so little!) cause as of today im sure theres alot more to be earned by having a normal every day job...go figure. You my friend seems to be living in the dark, much like hollywood would like you to. You might aswell say the biggest threat is Netflix! (if you see my point though i doubt it) They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
Re: DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILMI would say it can go either way with the Star Wars. Looking at the movies Disney released from 2010 till now i am a bit worried though. We have Jack Carter. Then we have the Jerry Bruckheimer movies, Prince of Persia, Sorcerers Apprentice and Pirates of the Caribbean 4. None of those are Great but i think the last Pirate movie held up pretty well. Now the top of that list would be the Avengers. From what i understand Disney let Marvel Studios handle most of that movie. Will it be the same with Lucasfilm? Will they leave it to the hands of the very capable people there with Lucas gone? About the movie companies they are making more films then ever, making more money then ever, having bigger productions then ever, more movie stars then ever. It would be more reasonable to say that all that have been made possible thanks to internet piracy. Re: DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILMlatitude75 wrote:
Exactly. They bought this for four billion dollars. They need 500 million people to go and watch Star Wars 7 at a ticket price of 8 dollars to get four billion dollars back. And that is if ALL the income was profit, which ofcourse it is not. It would be gross revenue, not profit. So maybe they need upwards one billion people to go see it. Sure, the Star Wars franchise has other income sources as well, and ofcourse they have calculated this deal as potentially profitable before paying, but the constant problem in Hollywood is still how overpaid everyone is and how they prematurely decides what things are "worth." A movie is never "worth" anything before hand, it is only after it brings incomes it is worth anything. In Hollywood they pay everybody in advance, before knowing if a movie will make money. In this scenario they have once again precalculated that this purchase will bring in profits that (far) exceeds four billion dollars. That is kind of bold and presumptuous. IF it will not bring in these excessive profits, it WILL be piracys fault, no doubt. Everybody in that business should have low steady incomes, and then a percentage of the profit IF their movie makes a lot of money. That would be the sensible way to do it. That would also make even better movies, i think. Re: DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILMLucasFilm is not only Star Wars. They get the Indiana Jones movies too. There been talk about a Willow 2 movie as well. The special effects department is one of the best in the world when it comes to movies even if i think the model shop is no longer owned by LucasFilm. LucasFilm animation should be included as well as LucasArts for video games. I would assume Disney have a huge interest there too maybe to get some more lego franchises going and for developing high end games as their own game productions havent been as great and mostly handled by third parties. It also includes some other sub companies like sound production and books. The also the merchandising department should be a huge revenue of income as Disney is very good at selling their products. Why not make a restart of the Ewoks? Maybe a cartoon and if they dare some live action movies too. One of my main worries was what would become of the Star Wars live action tv series. George Lucas have said that it was mostly mapped out only the costs needed to go down a bit more for it to be profitable for television. I was actually looking forward to what they could make of that but i wonder if Disney will want to follow through with that. Maybe if the next Star Wars movie is a hit they will want to do that but it feels like the 7th movie will be in place of that tv-show. 23 2012-10-31 14:54:46 (edited by xrnzaaas 2012-10-31 14:55:58)Posts: 1 to 25 of 33Forums - Next Episode → TV and Media News → DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILM |
