Topic: Seriously (18+ post!)
I'm up to 405. Starships. Evil Robots. Pew-pew. Why fuck this up with mystic shit, I mean fuck this noise. I'm pissed. They sold another thing. The fucking pilot was ace. It's been constant downhill from there. I mean I CRAVE some decent sci-fi. Noone needs the preachy mystic shit, just give us space battles with evil robots.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Honestly! I can't stop. The setting is amazing. The technological level is what I want it to be - nukes and projectile weapons, no lasers and high-fantasy sci-fi shit. Space battles are basically two ships lining up and starting to pound at each other. The world is gritty and believable. The highest technology is advanced AI. Which leads to what? Evil robots. But fuck me the story sucks. Why mess this beautiful, beautiful thing with mystical bullshit. Honestly. Starbuck was a nice character - fucked up. Apollo was a nice character - fucked up. Adama was a nice character - fucked up. The Chief was a nice character - fucked up. The Razor storyline was sort of nice, but it was so black and white and simple it was ridiculous. And it really shined through with the full length movie. I give them the president, I like the development of that character. She's slowly becoming batshit insane. But how do they justify that? She's actually seeing shit, not just going crazy. Really? Fuck this noise. The weird, reflective, thoughtful episodes were nice in the beginning, a nice distraction from the action, something that gave more depth and meaning to the rest of the story. Now they're the actual content and I feel like the action is the distraction and the filler. Fuck that noise. That concludes my mini rant.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Here's what I mean. Just saw the ending of the episode. Skeleton crew of military personnel in deep space, under the command of an increasingly insane officer, that is sending them on a suicide mission. They mutiny. That's some cool shit. Do that. But you know what? Kara is actually right and the drawing on the walls is not some act of insanity but part of "the plan". And just thinking about it for 2 minutes makes me hate it even more. It should just be plain shit. So I don't feel compelled to watch it. But it's not. It's got that awesome setting and from time to time they nail it. And I need to watch it and many people like me watch it and other people watch it just because they don't know any better. They don't know that a good solid sci-fi doesn't need the mystic shit. Fuck that noise. ps: No I actually feel worse.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
You think that last ep sucked... wait till the galactica crashes on a mysterious island when they find earth , and the only humans they meet end up being the "others" <=which in turn, turns out to be the tribe of the final cylon. After which Locke and Starbuck get married and have some delusional psychotic vision filled kids........Leaving Linus and Laura Roslyn to create the new dharma initiative..... too much coffee I think.....sorry guys

Big thanks to Arashi for putting so eloquently into words what most BSG fans are thinking.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
i don't see it... i mean, yeah there was some minor issues with some s3 episodes, but s4 so far has been solid to say the least... my only complaint is thus: TOO MANY SPACE BATTLES....

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
I have to agree, I think season 4 has been really good so far. This latest episode was awesome, so much happened, the episode seemed to go on for longer than 42 minutes!

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Hmm. Interesting how I disagree with pretty much everything the OP said. Although I can sorta relate, there's probably a given percent of people THAT JUST DON'T GET Battlestar Galactica. And that is as it is. It's sorta like Heroes. It's ridiculously popular, and I find myself just shaking my head at how everyone buys into all that retarded shit. So yeah...

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Seriously tho, let's get into the discussion how I don't get it. I think I get it, I just don't like it. Because it could be different, and that different is so much better than the version we get it's beyond funny. Frustrating is the word. Atlantis is not good sci-fi, either. When I mentioned the high fantasy sci-fi I was thinking of Atlantis. Think about it that way - would you guys like BSG less if they cut the religious crap and kept it more straightforward, looking for Earth via clues left by the colonists coming FROM Earth. Something they kind of, sort of dabbed into and than forgot.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Just one more thing, because I want no misunderstandings and I just can't do one post at a time. I'm all for religious motives, when they're used to develop growing insanity within a character for example. I get/dig Balthar's rise as a prophet as the one true god, with unwashed masses staring in awe, as he spews his bullshit. That shit is good. I draw the line when he actually goes ahead and heals the young boy through prayer/magic. I dig talking with a figment of his imagination, or even with an insane robot who's consciousness is imprinted into his. I draw the fucking line when he's lifted up by HIS IMAGINARY GIRLFRIEND SO HE CAN BE STRUCK DOWN BY THE GUARD AGAIN. That's where I draw the fucking line. In the words of he, who shall not be named: "Suspension of disbelief, motherfucker, DO YOU SPEAK IT?"

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
you need to throw all those damn lines out the window and let this fucker stomp all over your expectations... have you been listening to the podcasts... methinks to some extent that doing so would make things clearer... particularly with the 'Head Six' & 'Head Baltar' thingy... [not so much 'clearer' though, more 'less confusing'] @Mlin... LMFAO "they're back again"... i don't thinks they ever left... just been hiding, biding their time...

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Arashi, I couldn't agree with you more How frakin awesome was the first 2 episodes of series 1. They were all sleep deprived and shit scared of the cylons that kept jumping to their position 33 minutes after they arrived!! It was such a great start..... but sadly its been steadily going downhill faster than Gaius Baltar on a number 6 skin job!!!

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Geeeeessss, I don't know what to say. I had do read all Arashis.... input twice to understand what he was on about. (OK, I'm a non-native English speaker AND a blonde...) First I really didn't get what he was on about, but now I must admit I kind of agree. It hadn't occurred to me before, but now I'm with you. BUT: I choose to accept the destiny they have chosen for this show, especially after this last episode. It was absolutely AWESOME!!! If it continous like this I think I'kll eventually forgive them all together.

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Anyone else get the feeling that along the way the writers changed their minds about what the hell was going to happen? It doesn't have the same feel as something like Lost, where they have a set story and know what major things are going to happen ahead of time. It almost feels like the show kept getting extended longer than they planned and they had to change the direction to fill up another 20 odd episodes. or is it just me?

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
No I know exactely what you mean. Eg. at what time did they decise who the final five was? Have they known that all along or did they make it up as they went along and saw have the development in each character was recieved by the fans? Like this whole Starbuck "disappearing and returning"-thing. When did they come up with that?

I am thinking exactly the same about lost. Lost is far from being a set story and the plot is chopped like hell. If the creators of bsg are also thinking major things up along the way the're way much better than the people from lost.
