One episode where nothing really goes wrong, everything goes Walts way (finally) he takes care of all his problems and makes, what looks like, 100eds of millions.
And then there's the ending.... totally worth it!

It is unlikely that Walt would overlook such a detail...and it basically amounts to being dumb luck for Hank. It had nothing to do with the story...just a twist by the writers(as opposed to a twist by the characters) so that it could keep going. -Rob Re: 5x08Ultimately the twist must come from the writers...? Still can't wait to see what they come up with next, long wait ahead They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
Re: 5x08Of course it must come from the writers. The depth that they plant the twist at is equal to the depth of the drama though, if you will allow me to make an Inception-esque claim. There was no tension...no great reveal...nothing special about that scene...it was just, "well, we need this to happen, so let's make a scene where character, _____, serendipitously happens upon the key information". Great scenes are powerful most often due to the significant relationship that they have with other scenes. -Rob Re: 5x08I loved the final ep but hate that we have to wait till next summer now!!!!! Re: 5x08really liked this ep and felt it wasnt really a huge cliffhanger like other seasons. now to go back to ep 1 season 5 and watch it again Game Over
10 Years and counting Re: 5x08I completely agree with Rob, it was just weak, and you knew that something like that was comming, wasnt a shoking moment. They should have build up tension a bit, there where so many other ways they could have done it. Re: 5x08Yeah the twist felt a bit forced. Hank hasn't been able to get near Walt through very thorough police work, but then runs into the book while taking a dump? Meh. I also didn't buy in on the Walts "I'm out" thing. He sees he has made so much money and then suddenly decides this is it? Felt a bit out of character considering he's been going in the opposite direction for the past 5 seasons. Or did the doctor have some bad news about his cancer? I mean it wasn't clearly stated that he's cured... Him staring at the dent on the hand dryer, was it a notion of "I remember when I heard about the cancer and was very afraid and now I can look back at it and smile because I beat cancer" or was it "Last time I heard these same news I wasn't ready, but now I have come to accept my upcoming death"? Also not enough Pinkman this season, whassup wit dat? Re: 5x08As careful as Walt has been, he's been out there in the business for over a year, and in a big way. Lots of people have seen him (and are still alive). He's had plenty of opportunity to leave biological evidence behind (again, despite being careful.) The gift from Gale should have been destroyed, but Walt is not perfect. He's probably left other incriminating items around. Besides, if Hank doesn't catch on, how is the show going to end. Re: 5x08can someone refresh my memory about the book? Re: 5x08Gale was a big Walt Whitman fan, always quoting Whitman to Walter White. There was some mention of "WW" in the documents recovered from Gale's apartment and Walt saw these when Hank asked for help in deciphering Gale's chemistry notes. 12 2012-09-04 17:19:05 (edited by dominar 2012-09-04 17:23:38)Re: 5x08mclame wrote:
So true after his Gray Matter thing he got bought out of and then saying im in the "empire" business. Just a lie to, i dont know probly going back to the lies of the first seasons. I see skylar snitching for this though also she knows about pinkman so. Maybe a garage for him to turn also "Au naturel maybe, thats the way i like it. Swing low, sweet chariots." Creed Bratton

The fact that it happened sitting on the john is just the writers way of showing us the near absurd randomness of this scene. But it WAS character driven. Think about how little information is in that book with the words WW in them? But we all know Hank. -Exo Re: 5x08I beleive you are spot on Mr. Exodus They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
