Topic: Band of Brothers
Band of Brothers
I've already seen half of the miniseries. I love everything about it, starting with the amazing cast. I had this on my long-queue because of Damien Lewis and when Orlando suggested it I fast tracked it and it paid off beautifully. It took me a while but now I know the characters and it's a hell of a ride. By the way how's http://next-episode.net/the-pacific?

Re: Band of Brothers
thanks for reminding me that i want to rewatch it. and i haven't seen the pacific, but what i have heard of it's more about human emotions in war than story or something like that.. i don't know, ask Orlando.. he knows everything.

Re: Band of Brothers
for me the pacific was worth a watch whereas Band of Brothers is worth rewatch after rewatch! FOr me you can really compare them and shouldn't be graded as such BOB gets 10/10 the pacific gets 7/10

Don't expect it to be as good as BoB...it's not.
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Band of Brothers
Was wondering about creating a thread about BoB for you, but now. The Pacific, like Rob said*, is exceptional. During its original airing people really had a big problem, because after years of hype and overblown expectations almost everyone excepted BoB 2.0, but it's not. Different type of storytelling, different front, different enemy, different goals. Don't get me wrong, it does have flaws (Melbourne episode, Basilone's storyline), but overall it is a fantastic journey through a human mind and how war can destroy you from the inside. Also, mostly for Europeans, we are more immersed in the story of Band of Brothers, because it deals with places/events we generally know and we are familiar with, whereas with the pacific front we have very little of common knowledge (midway, pearl harbor, maybe okinawa and that's it) and we didn't feel as connected with it. But that's just my thinking. Btw after finishing the entire thing go back and rewatch Currahee. You'll look at them differently. * - http://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic … 071#p67071 >:D

Yeah. And yes, it is the best miniseries ever created. But please don't watch The Pacific now, you're too much into BoB. However Generation Kill is also marvelous and so different that you'll not compare the two. Told ya you'll love it.

Re: Band of Brothers
HBO will team up with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg once again for a third miniseries set during World War II. Following Band of Brothers and The Pacific, the crew will set their sights on the air battles that took place over Europe, relying on the book Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany for inspiration

Re: Band of Brothers
The details of the bombing campaign over Europe is generally unknown to the public. It was a very bloody operation, with US bomber crews losing more men than the marines did in the Pacific. Put another way, you were more likely to survive the war as an infantryman than as a member of a bomber crew.

Re: Band of Brothers
Since I brought up old shows and people started watching them, I figure I would mention Band of Brothers; it's the greatest mini-series in the history of television. I watch it every year, around November 11. No one had made a better show before, and no one has made a better one since.
