Re: Luther
The chemistry between Luther and Alice is off the charts. Very promising start indeed.

Re: Luther
Alice gone, meh. Now the boring story of the whore. But seeing as there are only so few episodes it wont survive long anyway

Re: Luther
I thought episode two was brilliant, yet again. Ripley arresting the bad guy was very cathartic. I hope they bring Alice back at least for the last episode - she seems like a great friend to have when going up against the well-connected scumbags Luther seems to be fighting now ...

I was thinking the air would have been very flammable and the lighter (or the sparks from the bullets) would have probably set it off. But then again, Mythbusters pretty much disproved the "sparks from bullets ignite gasoline" myth, so what do I know. I thought season 2 was great, albeit too short. The stories were just as good as in season 1, the music (especially in the last episode) was unbelievably great, and the acting was superb as always. The ending unfortunately wasn't as gut-punchingly awesome as the season 1 finale (maybe because of cancellation fears the writers didn't want to end it with another cliffhanger?), but it was still great. The only weak spot was how Luther dealt with the"mob mom" - I mean, yes, using Alice as a threat works for us, because we know what she is (capable of), but it would carry far less weight to the "mob mom" since she doesn't know her. But oh well, if that's the worst I can come up with ... Hopefully we get a season 3, but ratings-wise it doesn't look promising.

Re: Luther
Just finished watching season two. It wasn't as awesome as season 1, but still VERY very good. I hate what they've done to Alice... it's like they didn't have an idea what to do with this character after the events of season 1. On the good side, I like how they expanded the cases to two episodes, especially the spectacular case from episodes 3 and 4. Waiting for season three.

The problem is that Alice as a character works best when she has Luther to play off of. Alice alone is the same as Luther without Alice - not as interesting. They need to bring them back together - Alice the psychopath with maybe a little bit of a good heart, and Luther the cop who is a hair's breadth away from being evil ...

I just finished s1e1, and I'm blown away already, and I know it gets better. I love Stringer Bell in The Wire, and I love Luther. Idris Elba is fucking amazing. As for the comments about british shows, wtf???

It was just Mapu, dropping it because it was a British show, and never having seen a good British show, but I guess Americans struggle with British humor, no news there.
