Topic: Your expectations for the second season (2nd half)

There were certainly different reactions to how the second season evolved so far.

Personally I didn't hate the first seven episodes. But looking back there were a few problems that need fixing to keep me excited about this show.

Spoiler
  • The pacing was too slow for a post apocalyptic zombie setting. The whole story around Sophia stretched over all seven episodes.

  • With the group settling at the farm they got to some kind of safe haven where they lived a happy camper's life with no zombie threat (except the barn maybe, but that doesn't really count).

  • The show lost it's direction. None of the characters seem to have an idea what they want to do, where they want to go.

IMO this show is about how the characters react to a life under constant threat and not knowing how to live their lives in the future. The show should get back to that.

Your expectations from the second season
To be good, but that's bit far fetched.

Re: Your expectations for the second season (2nd half)

I have absolutly no expectations except that unlike many others, I'm fine with how it went so far because I take it as a slow character driven show with more time spent on how little moments define each character and how they react than a big bam boom pow pow dead zombies slugfest all over the place wich would bore me much more because it's too repetitive. There's a reason why I can't stand CSI: Miami - Horacio wakes up, oh no, a murder, Horacio solves the murder, Horacio put his sunglasses, Horacio goes to bed. 10 years of that, no thanks. (Even all his colleagues look bored).

Note that I didn't read the comic and probably won't until the final end of the entire show. Obviously they seems to have diverge from it and people are not happy about it. I don't have that problem.

I probably have the same problems about it that stated by the OP but since I don't expect a bloodbath every 5 minutes and care more about the atmosphere, the music and how they go as (almost) normal people, it's in my watchlist to stay.

Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

Of course it's a character driven show, but it's hard to enjoy this with unlikeable characters that you want to see die, instead of being alive, a cast that can't act, weak writing about nothing and gimmicks from B rated movies.

As usual Orlando lays down the law. So true. I knew this would happen when Darabont left/was pushed out

Well, not to be bitchy, but S01E02 written by Darabont introduced zombies throwing bricks, so...

Re: Your expectations for the second season (2nd half)

No expectations.

the characters are all unlikable. Which is in my opinion really hard to pull off. The writing was Beyond Boring.

I didnt read the comics and i dont plan to do so. But blowing up the CDC is just a cheat. The farm was nice but 3 eps on it would have been ENOUGH.

I suspect for the coming season less action, more unlikable characters, more pointless drama, less zombies and far more soap opera.

Which means for me im out (gonna watch the ep tomorrow and see if im right)
