Topic: 'Caprica' is GO!
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx … 318scifi01 "Set 50 years before Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families the Greystones and the Adamas as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies. Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe. Caprica will deliver all of the passion, intrigue, political backbiting, family conflict and hardcore action that always leaves Galactica fans begging for more."

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
True - that seems to be a bug. Right now there is no airdate available for Caprica. It should fix itself here on ne in some days The last news for Caprica I read on tv.com (07/22/08) were:
In Battlestar Galactica, creator Ronald D. Moore painted a bleak future for humanity, with a robot uprising bent on extinguishing (or at least making things really difficult for) the human race. But before man made the gun-totin' toasters, life was rather...jazzy. That's the look producers have gone for in Caprica, the prequel to Sci Fi Channel's re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. The Los Angeles Times has a trailer for Caprica, and in contrast to the space travel and command decks of BSG, Caprica looks decidedly retro--almost an ode to the cigar-smoking, Scotch-swigging era of the 1950s. The trailer teases the show's main conflict--namely, the rivalry between the Graystones and the Adamas that's created after advanced robotics (beta Cylons) are used to replace a daughter that has died. Fans looking for flying cars and spaceship battles will likely have to look elsewhere; aside from a couple shots, Caprica's take on the future doesn't look too different from the present or the past. At the TCA press tour, Sci Fi execs were still unclear about the approach to the two-hour Caprica pilot, saying it could serve either as a stand-alone movie or as the first episode of a series. Execs also did not have a premiere date for the program. However, Sci Fi bosses were able to confirm what had long been suspected--the final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica will begin airing in January.

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
Ohhh it's so tempting... But I'm afraid that if I watch the premiere episode now I can't stand waiting until the show continues in early 2010. I just don't want to torture myself so I rather wait a few more months

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
But isn't it torture either way? You still have to wait months for the next one? I see it like this: If the pilot sucks, I won't be waiting/torturing myself in the same way. If the pilot DOESN'T suck I will have spent 1 1/2 hour enjoying myself and knowing that there IS meaning of life on the other side of summer.... (Wowsers, I guess I'm feeling a bit.... poetic late at night.....)

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
Ok... you just convinced me With BSG gone I'm kinda wondering if there will be another good scifi show within the next year or so. I know that Caprica isn't going to be all scifi since it's supposed to be more like a drama or family show revolving around the time when the cylons were created. Anyway I'm looking forward to it... would be nice to get some background on cylons, how they evolved and how humans dealt with all that.

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
Good! (Haven't seen it myself yet, have to wait until I have 1 1/2 hours where I won't be interrupted.. Have downloaded it though!) I totally agree on the Sci-fi-thing. I don't expect Caprica to fill the big black void that BSG left, I just hope it's good and, as you said, give some insight. But what will? I know Stargate Universe is coming, but try not to get my hopes up for that one... Anyone who can recommend a new, fabulous sci-fi-show, I'll be most grateful!

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
So I saw the pilot, didn't like it very much, but considering what the ending was like the series shows potential. On a side note: I wonder how many "in space" scenes are we going to have, I wouldn't be surprised if they simply mention the existence of spaceships and only do on-planet scenes. In other words I miss space travel and combat - I guess SGU will have to do, but since I didn't like Atlantis I doubt I'll actually enjoy it. Ahh after BSG everything on tv suddenly sucks ...

Re: 'Caprica' is GO!
It's clear that while the series set themselves in the BSG universe, nothing more is going to be had from there. That's not BSG, nor anything like it. And I have to admit that, unlike BSG, it's bright, beautiful, crispy and alive. The overall quality of the thing has just amazed me. It's like -- wow, forget the Dollhouse, Caprica is clearly the next big thing! So it's on my wish- and watch-list now.
