it's the same episode, in torrents there's for some reason this marked as first episode of fifth season. but i put 4x21 just because it shows that number in next-episode..

This was a Christmas Special.
Maybe S05E00, definitely not episode 1.

ok i understand it's x-mas special but i wanted to scratch my eyes out and poke my ears in the first minutes, because it was just terrible.
perfect christmas. jesus MF christ. get over with this christmas shit already.
but when it shifted to cartoon/anime version it was much better.
and of course the last minutes were plain terror again.
in that sense (out of 3 x-mas specials i watched yesterday) warehouse 13 and haven were much better.

not that i'm very christmasy person, but i thought it was perfect christmas episode, it would have been superb to watch it on christmas eve with family. if my family would watch Eureka...
and i still think the main reason i wait christmas every year is to see new doctor who episode...

Like everything it's a Pagan holiday taken over by Christians...but who cares I'm not a big Christmas fan either but that doesn't mean I go around being all Scrooge about it. Halloween is the only non fake Holiday left and that's about people going around pretending to be things there not...Sometimes you just got to take the cynic part of life and give it a break.
Episode was the first extremely original episode I've seen from a Christmas special in a long time...and were was Zane?

while i understand the concept of x-mas episodes, i think it´s really bad to run episodes that completely diverge from the timeline of the show.
i just turned on eureka 4x21 or 5x01 or whatever now so i´ll see if it is as good as you all think

The holiday episodes are just a bonus episodes with the character you like. It can be completely skipped and you won't miss anything or watched if you want to see a bonus episode, it's the best way to look at it cause that used to bug me with the episode not fitting the timeline.

Christmas Specials and "continanity" ...
Both Haven and Eureka's episode's were narrated in a way of "we know this is out of continuity", Haven's story actually happening in July even solves problems about the timeline. Eureka is a lot freer about this kind of stuff, mostly because it really buys into the "sci-Fi as modern fairy tales" trope (which I particuylarly embrace a lot, as does one Steven Moffat). So, once I saw it was a Christmas Special, I just relaxed my "whatever happened to the FTL ship" mind and enjoyed the ride.
And when you think about appropriated pagan myths, hey, it's kind of nicer on the children if the supernatural being flying around in a sleigh at night leaves presents in their socks while they sleep because they were good instead of having to leave socks full of hay to feed the flying animal pulling said sleigh so they can prove they are indeed good spirits and do not deserve to die that night ... as was the original nord myth of the Spirit Hunt by Odin.
We live in a decievingly less scary world where just when we think there is nothing that can possibly go wrong, someone flies a plane into a building.
