Re: Justified 1x01 - 5x04
I wouldn't even say the episodes were of varying quality. I thought all of them ranged between good and friggin' fantastic. The show had a bit of a slow start and it seems that the second episode of every season will be about transporting a prisoner who then promptly escapes while in the custody of our favorite marshals, but that's okay. Certainly the last three episodes of the first season were balls-to-the-wall awesome.

Yay, everybody dance! FX made a great first step to making it off of my shit list where they landed after cancelling Terriers. AMC on the other hand, their shit list attendance earned by the cancellation of Rubicon, is paddling up shit creek with the whole Mad Men mess.

Wow. Epic doesn't even begin to describe those animated GIFs. Way to go, Orlando!

While I agree that the show gets better and better (this week's episode was pretty epic), I have to rescind my praise for Orlando's animated GIFs. Now they are overused and distracting. Sorry, Orlando

Re: Justified 1x01 - 5x04
I liked the episode, I might have liked it more if I didn't read all the hype about how amazing this episode and last weeks was. I try to steer clear of that type of stuff with all the hyping but I was curious and well it also sucked cause they said someone was going to die so it ruin the surprise. I'm happy that with a show like this with such a wide range of a cast, that there really isn't any one that's boring or uninteresting. I think it's a testament to the writers and the actors that there are such a wide range of interesting character on the show.

Another great episode! And whatever that song at the end was - the combination of electric guitar solo overlaid with banjo ... *speechless*

No!!! It looks like we are getting another epic finale (although there is still one episode left before the finale).

Re: Justified 1x01 - 5x04
Yeah, the ending this week took me mighty by surprise. Also, is it just me or are the episodes extremely short? I understand that even for most cable shows the "hour without commercial breaks" is a lie, so instead of the broadcast-common 42 or 44 minutes we get around 50 minutes and only the pilots and season finales are close 60 minutes, but Justified has been clocking in at 38 to 40 minutes for many of this season's episodes. Now I don't mind if that's all the story they want to tell - a tight, short narrative is preferable to a drawn-out, boring snooze fest and the episodes have been tight as a drum this season, but 38 minutes is pushing it. I wonder if it's a creative decision or a budget one? I want more Justified damn it! We get only 13 episodes a year and this season some of them have been more like half-episodes, really. Why can't Justified be more like Luther. Luther clocked every episode in at 58 or 59 minutes. That's what I call getting my money's worth!

That problem lies with the US and that everything here is run by commercials and while FX is good with SOA and letting them get long episodes it does seem there the only one. Cable shows tend to be the ones that run episodes max 41mins and the 50min ones are the paid channels ex:HBO. I also wish it was longer but not sure what to expect at least FX does a decent job of pushing more air time for premiers and finales and maybe shorting the middle of the season is how they let the start and finish run so long.
▼Spoiler I have to say I really didn't expect the husband to be behind the attempted killing of his wife and Raylon I figure it had something to do with the horse deal which I guess it did just not how I thought. Also the end with her death did come as a bit of a surpise. The show is great sad only 2 episodes left.

What he said. Another year, another season of Justified. But now, the waiting...

Re: Justified 1x01 - 5x04
Loved the season and the finale. And as much as I love Brad Paisley's "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" it was a much better fit at the end of last season. Back then it was surprising (I haven't heard the song before), not only because of its beautiful melody but especially because of its fitting lyrics, and made the final scene with Raylan mockingly pulling the trigger that much better. I actually thought they might use the song again at the end, so I was half expecting and half dreading it. Luckily they avoided copying the season 1 finale too much and we weren't treated to a slow-motion montage with the song accompanying it, but its use still bothered me. It was short, so it doesn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the last minutes of the episode, but I can't help but think: couldn't they find a different song to play out the season? A different song wouldn't have the same impact, but it also wouldn't have been repetitive. (Although I do like the sentiment of the song used as a book-end to Mags' story.)

I don't really mind them using it after every season end since the song match's the show. It worked well the first time and it seemed to work well here as well. Episode was good

Superb. Only let down is that Dicky is still breathing.

I actually forgot that the song was used in the previous finale, so it was like a new thing to me.

Another season of Raylan and Boyd awesomeness! I think their relationship is one of the most intriguing and best written relationships on TV. It just works on so many levels.
