I heard that NBC is holding Community off for a few months, can any of our TV gurus elaborate?

It's the fault of the american audience. On any other national network (excluding) Community would end on its first season with such ratings. But here we got to season three, which is a great achievement. But still, let's see.

I don't understand... this show is so brilliant! The level of humor reminds me of Arrested Development, which is the best comedy show ever... Why the hell does it get low ratings? Is my (our) taste really that different from the masses?

The problem is that it's on NBC which as been sucking lately when it comes to show viewers, and more importantly it's going against the number 1 comedy on TV The Big Bang Theory. Networks typically don't try shows out in different time-slots to see if rating will improve so the show is pretty much screwed

Not necessarily. Community is close to the magical 88-episode number needed for syndication. There are rumors floating around that it might be worth to Sony (the producer of Community) to basically give away the next season to NBC almost for free just so 88 episodes get aired. In which case NBC might just bite and air it - not during sweeps and probably very randomly, but still. (This is what gave Chuck such long legs as well.)
