Re: Terra Nova
Well, i was really enthusiastic with this show. But i have to agree, it's all about the family drama. They could have easily picked something else then dinosaurs, and a remote village. It could have also been a distant planet, or even just Wildlife in Afrika. I really don't get how they can destroy such a good concept. If they want another family drama (with not much credibility) they shouldn't have made a **** dino show. I will see how it turns out. Cause i really wanna have a good scifi / dino show. I really hope it's gonna get better. Cause i really liked the (first half of the) first ep.

Re: Terra Nova
I'm having trouble even liking the main cast I can forgive a cheesy show if I really like 1-2 of the main characters. But can't seem to really like any of the central family in this show. Actors or characters that is. I do like Stephen Lang so far however, he's a badass.

Re: Terra Nova
Just wondering, they have been in Terra Nova for few years now already and this is the first time the birds migrated there to mate? I mean usually mating season happens every year, not every 7 years or how long they have been there...

I thought the same thing. The funny thing is, we don't even know for sure dinosaurs migrated. But it is the most plausible that they did. But even so, modern birds today do it annually. And when you look up what migration is: The key to migration is that it is predictable, seasonal, and repeated each year (Sibley 2001, 59-60).
Oh well, another plot hole .

Re: Terra Nova
I'm trying not to be too critical of the show...God knows we don't have a lot of sci-fi to choose these days, but this is what bugs me about the characters and it was really glossed over at the start. The Earth is dying, they have population control for a VERY good reason. Our two main "heroes" the husband and wife, 1 a cop the other a Doctor decide to have 3 kids anyway....knowing very well the reasons it is not only illegal but environmentally unsustainable.. it just makes them complete and utter douche bags No matter what else happens, they are completely selfish douche bags. Now the the writers could have been smart and one of the other kids could have been dying so they thought they would keep the unexpected pregnancy, but then the other kid miraculously plus through..but no. No other reason has been given except the husbands little outburst "its between me and my wife". I get the nagging feeling that it started out pretty weak but will just go downhill from there, I think they just expect to get away with bad writing because it has dinosaurs in it.

to the defence, in that time not every spieces migrated every year. but yeah, plot hole. and the weakest one was. It takes them 7 years to grow to maturity.. sheesh... i got nothing to add...

Re: Terra Nova
I do! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Scientists have determined the following estimates: Troodon- (Weight: 50 kg) 3-5 years to reach adult size (Varricchio, 1993). the ceratosaur Syntarsus rhodesiensis - (Weight: 25+ kg) 7-8 years to reach adult size (Anusiya Chinsamy, 1994). the prosauropod Massospondylus carinatus- (Weight: 250+ kg) 15 years to reach adult size (Chinsamy, 1994). the sauropod Bothriospondylus madagascariensis - (Weight 17500 kg) 43 years to adult size (Ricqlés, 1983) the ceratopsian Psittacosaurus mongoliensis - (Weight 80 kg) was 10 to 11 years old (Erickson and Tumanova, unpublished data) Growth Rates: Growth rates based on maximum growth rates of modern-day reptiles, even though there are probably major metabolic differences. Protoceratops: Adult 177 kg, hatchling 0.43 kg (hatchling weight calculated to be about 90% of the weight of 0.5 liter egg). Age to adulthood calculated to be roughly 26-38 years. Hypselosaurus : Adult 5300 kg, hatchling 2.4 kg. Age to adulthood calculated to be about 82-188 years. If this is true, this would seem to indicate that dinosaurs either lived for an incredibly long time or else, using the growth rate of living reptiles is not appropriate, and Hypselosaurus grew at a much faster rate that modern-day reptiles (indicating that it had a much faster metabolism than living reptiles), or maturity came long before they reached their adult size. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ so why not who cares about details! I mean they travel through time..... i kind of still like this show even if I am the only one

They exactly kinda do... If the species migrated, they migrated each year. That's the definition of the word migration. There are other reasons for species to move, but they aren't called migration and don't have anything to do with breeding.

annual or seasonal. example; the atlantic salmon live for up to 8 years in the original freshwater rivers before leaving for the salt water seas - where they live for up to 4 years before they return to they spawning ground to mate and die... this is also called migration, even tho it's not annual...

Re: Terra Nova
For the first time i actually skipped parts in a TV Shows series episode i didn't watched before and a possible storyline i actually liked. Worst episode in a show with so far nothing to like except what they could make of it but don't. And i'm saying this even though i think i have very low standarts for tv shows.

Re: Terra Nova
This series could have been so much better. It doesn't help that I didn't like any of the family and I actively dislike the father. He just comes across as a bit of a jerk to me. So the fact they are making it a family drama is just not going to work for me. This last episode had OBVIOUS written all over it too. It was like they just ripped a plot off a poor Stargate episode. I feel like such a sucker for even watching past the pilot when I was already fairly certain the show wasn't very good. I'll probably watch the next episode too, beyond that I can't say. It's already slipped right down in priority on my watch list. Really, with how most people seem to be fairly unimpressed with the show, coupled with it's cost to produce it's looking unlikely to get renewed and probably has very little time to improve and save itself. EDIT: Btw, I'm glad to know it wasn't just me that ended up skipping bits of that last episode.

Re: Terra Nova
why are the soldiers wearing motocross gear? even motocross boots, i dont know if any of you have walked in motocross boots, but they are pretty useless for anythin else than bike riding. how hard can it be to design some proper armour.

Now we only need an expert on family dramas to know where they took the rest of the script from
