Re: Torchwood
damn this show is getting better and better. really sitting on the edge of the chair during ep5...
Re: Torchwood
This show is getting bloody scary....
Re: Torchwood
I think what I miss about last season was it was shown in a short time span and with less episodes I didn't feel like the show dragged on...this season there's been parts in episodes I been kind of bored. Never been a big Gwen fan though so it would explain why I kind of want to fast-foward her part.

No you don't, but you'll probably want to. RThere are references about a lot of people who died, the previous seasons actually SHOW that. Also, If you whatch Doctor Who (2005-2006 seasons) you'll end up underestanding why Jack is Jack and why he is/was/will become again immortal.
Acoording to the doctor who universe time can get manipulated and change so Jack might actually die now, if someone has time traveled.

can he? if he's the face of boe, he has to be alive for billions of years so that he can tell the doctor his "secret"
Re: Torchwood
jack wont die, but i guess he could loose his head. The face of Boe WAS a head in a jar.
anyways, this season is getting really intense. The "modules" are one thing, but the energy portrayd from Oswald Danes's speeches is incredibly strong and scary(I almost wanted to start clapping and screaming myself).
Some of the "deaths" this season are among the most horrible i have ever seen. Especially the car-crushing and the fire module.
This is just getting better every week i somehow doubt doctor who will be able to follow this but they have surprised me before
Kellogg: Archer broke both Wu’s arms. While shouting “Woo!”
Archer: Happy accident.
Re: Torchwood
Well they get to kill Hitler in Doctor Who so that's always a good time
Re: Torchwood
This show is getting really hardcore... The Middle Men, another great ep. the suspense, the drama - and the scary bits in the middle...
Re: Torchwood
I really wish Gwen and her husband died in the place of any other member of Torchwood she was the least interesting person on the show to me and still is....
anyways episode was good I like Jack's storyline in the episode and the 2 CIA peoples was interesting. With only 4 episodes left I hope next week we getter a better picture on what's going on, this episode pretty much told us everything we thought we knew wasn't right.

▼Spoiler
yes the major... i was wondering from where is she familiar?
Re: Torchwood
1X7 Was really good, I mean it`s been a fantastic season, but I have waited so long to get some more insight into the miracle.
Still, I am missing Oswald Danes, I just like his storyline.
Re: Torchwood
1X7 Was really good...
you mean 4x7... it's season four...

Well , Starz is promoting the show as their new original series.
So yes technically it's 1x07 for them.

Re: Torchwood
I thought the first episode was great, then the show starting lagging a bit but was still a lot of fun. But then I almost despised episodes 4, 5 and 6. The CIA-bookworm is the most incompetent character ever. When she almost cost Jack and Gwen their lives I was about ready to throw something at the TV.
I understand that not everybody on TV should be a bad-ass hero and that most people (me included) would act probably even stupider given a situation like that, but there is a reason why we like stories about heroes and bad-asses. Watching her whining, crying, and bumbling her way through this and endangering the whole team through her stupidity is just annoying as hell. Luckily she kind-of redeemed herself in the seventh episode, but I still cringe anytime she's on screen.
The show has been picking up steam and the seventh and eighth episode have been good again. But I am realizing that the reason why I enjoyed Children of Earth so much was because they didn't drag it out and the show didn't have time to mess anything up in five episodes. While the first two seasons were filled with ups and downs, the show was finding itself, Children of Earth was just a great, taut piece of sci-fi writing. Miracle Day, not so much. It has a lot of intriguing elements (Oswald Danes, the societal impact of the Miracle, etc.), but I think less (episodes) would have been more in this case ...

me disagree... your talking about a 5 episode difference - five episodes!! usually in a tv series, nothing happens in 5 episodes, but in this - it's like a freight train picking up speed as it tumbles onward...
and as for the annoying character - i like that there a deeply flawed characters in a show, not just the hero types (becouse that is just childish)... makes it all just a little bit more real...

In this case five episodes is a whole series when compared to Children of Earth. I might be proven wrong, but I don't think the story is going to be twice as good (when compared to Children of Earth) to merit double the length. I think the show could me a lot tighter and faster-paced if they had stuck to the five episode format. But again, it's a matter of opinion.

I think there is a difference between "deeply flawed characters" and simply annoying characters acting stupid. I grant you the "annoying" part is highly subjective, but I would argue that Jack is a flawed character and Gwen to some degree too. It's okay to be human and make mistakes, but if that becomes the character's defining trait I have a problem with that. Also there is a difference between making a mistake the audience doesn't know is a mistake and doing stupid shit everyone in the audience knows is stupid and is yelling at the screen to make them stop.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that her character might try to be real and human, but it is badly written, making her unlikable and annoying, not just stupid.

i think it's already better than the last series... it was already better with episode 1...

if it raises feelings one way or the other, it is by definition good writing. TV is a form of art, and art that does not raise feelings (one way or the other) has failed...
PS. and if we'd put you (or any1 of us real people) on her place you'd just break down and cry for mommy... so it's real, its all good and i like it...

I agree and it is true that her character raises a lot of feelings in me. But while that platitude is generally true, I think you need to distinguish between emotions coming from the work of art and emotions that are a result of the art. If a character does something illogical or out of character and I get annoyed at the TV show for that, that isn't art, that's bad writing. Me being annoyed was not what the writer was going for. Yes, it could have been, but not in mainstream US TV programming ... But like I said, it's highly subjective and I am glad you enjoy the show so much
PS. and if we'd put you (or any1 of us real people) on her place you'd just break down and cry for mommy... so it's real, its all good and i like it...
True and I even mentioned that in my first post. But then again, nobody is making a TV show about how I would react to such a situation, because it would be boring, stupid, and annoying. I do appreciate that the writers are trying to write flawed, realistic characters, but (and I repeat myself here) there's a reason why we like our stories to be about exceptional people and heroes and not us. We deal with us and others like us (i.e. non-heroes) every day, I don't feel the need to watch somebody fail at life in sci-fi shows (There's a whole TV genre devoted to chronicling people failing at life, it's called reality TV.)
