Re: Alphas
Superhero shows are always a gamble when doing new material, but this looks a bit promising, if they can keep ou even up a bit the cop-show vibe. Themewise is straight out of the X-Men "integration x confrontation" agenda, unsurprisingly considering the crew. At least is not making the mistake of trying to be Heroes, which, in retrospect ended up being a more expensive and worse remake of The 4400. As I said, I hope they keep up the Cop Show vibe, the superpowers to solve mysteries for a while, just hinting of the bigger arc, so we can start enjoying and caring for the protagonists properly.

have seen only few episodes of csi, but i got the same feeling.
I haven't sEen a full ep of those shows eighter but I do know that it's all about the 'macro' detail stuff so ep2 was constantly remiNding me of cnnciss-like shows.also it's in ny with a prof trying to track down individuals with special abilities which was basically the theme song for the first season of heroes. Mutants vs average -> x-men Counter inteligence scams -> alias ...They're gonna have a hard job makin it work....I say they won't see the end of the first season

Re: Alphas
What's with the "Toronto" rant? Not that I really care since I don't live there but I find that strange since Rookie Blue (yea ok) Flashpoint Warehouse 13 and the list goes on... There's way too much fail in this show and the location and crew is not at fault. When it's badly written, it fails up to the guy holding the pencil. Whether it's Penn (x-men sure ain't a masterpiece), Boyd (we know how Heroes went) or Ganem (murder, solution, murder, solution, yawn)... it doesn't mean much since they can all have a brainfart and write a shitty story once in awhile. Another episode and if it doesn't step up at least a tiny bit in quality, I sure won't waste anymore bandwith on this one.

The show seems fair enough. Although it was below my expectations. The reason being to little mystique

Re: Alphas
Pais the problem lays in the concept, the pairing of a succesful and a failed show.if you have a rotten ingridient it's gonna eventualy ruin the hole thing. Is it on usa?can't remember but if it is then maybe it has a slim chance cuz that network is puting some pretty descent shows lately(lovin suits)

So the terminatrix is on her way to basically finish the job on the show I guess.

Re: Alphas
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree because we fall in the "it's your opinion" area of things. Flashpoint sure doesn't suck at all, the success of Warehouse 13 speaks for itself (and I'm not that much into it to be honest) and Rookie Blue is... fine. Boring but fine and decently done, enough to warrant a second season wich is better than 100 other failures produced in Vancouver (holy land of tv shows) or Yanks territories that don't even get past first season if not a few episodes. Alphas sucks as much as comparing the muppet show to the Lord of the Ring. The writing is horrible, the concept is completly missed and a wild borefest and to join you on your sentiment, I DO hope it gets better. (I would've said that it can't get worse but... yea it can.) That's MY opinion... obviously.

It could've been worse. You could have gone with My Little Pony.

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Alphas
Well , there is no need to watch the rest of the season - in the end of this episode (720p version) they showed a 30 seconds clip on what is coming the rest of the season - it's enough , I bet they were the best parts overall , no need to keep watching

Re: Alphas
It's kinda cool show. But I dont feel like I care for the characters yet.. 3 episodes in, and I still ask myself, who are they? Some further character development would be nice.

Re: Alphas
Heh, best thing of the show so far was getting rid of that agent who was a caricature of the typical boss that we were meant to hate. He was just too much it was becoming a joke. Procedural yawn cases like the other 150 alreading airing. Something happened, investigation, little twist, running after the bad guy, catching him, lesson learned. The Black Bill character is supposed to be antipatic I guess but he's crossing the line that you simply don't like him at all even as a character. Mister only-one trained bossy blabla. The riot in the office was too long. We got the picture in the train (wich was shorter). That scene could've last half of that. Almost as if the writers and director needed to cover some airtime. Someone thought the red effect was cool and abused of it. The leader keeps telling he can help people (you still wonder how) and yet, most of them end up in a facility he learned in the previous episode was a hellhole but... hey, it's allright. Just like the poor girlfriend in Falling Sky... no biggy. As Xta pointed out, they showed stuff from upcoming episodes and it's more cases, an obvious love thing between the 2 best looking characters (not predictable at all), etc. It probably could've been decent tv movie but as a show... hard to get in it.

Re: Alphas
I really like it. Gary is awesome, the other characters not so much but they're still OK. Premise is kinda goofy, but it works pretty well. Actually holds itself together much better than Heroes, and keeps me interested.

Re: Alphas
As I've stated before, they gotta keep the cop show vibe a bit longer and better, but they crapped a bit by revealling the overarching plot a bit too soon. We already KNOW the government is doing something bad to the captured Alphas, so ... meh ... character stupidity and oblivioness makes me care less. Summer Glau coming though, which is in itself a good bad thing: The girl has no luck whatsoever ... look at it in retrospect, even when the writting IS good, as in Firefly, shows with her hit the ground not running. This is a show I watch, but don't really seem to care. Kinda what happens with Falling Skies, it's there on my TO DO list, when I'm tired of reading, ready for bed, on serious WAB (Work Avoidance Behaviour). Production values are a bit on the low side, but I feel is more of a directing problem - I know just too well to care to express HOW HARD it is to do TV on tight budgets and my sincere suggestion is: go comedy. Alphas has NO comic relief. The autistic receptor kid was supposed to be that, but he is actually one of the characters that you can simpathize with. The black hulk who wants to boss around is a pain to watch. And I guess the main symptom that the show has little appeal is that I've seen all episodes and still can't name the characters. And this is NOT Game of Thrones with 264 thousand characters.

Re: Alphas
I only watched the pilot and I barely made it threw that, my problem is no one on the show was likeable in any way. Every single one except maybe the one who enchaned her sense's at one point or another in the pilot I wanted to stab them in the throat repeatedly to get them to stop talking. The worse was the black guy who enhanced his adrenaline got on my nervs very quick there wasn't a likeable quailty in him at all, and the guy from bones who outside of the main boss guy I had actually knew from the cast was so annoying in everything he said and did. The idea was interesting but the writing and acting is too much nails on a board for me
