I agree, it's hard to see what they plan on doing. My biggest complaint though was the first five minutes showing what would've undoubtedly been a fantastic storyline for one or even two seasons, but they decided to skip that with a few photos, short clips, and a voice-over narration! I mean, c'mon, stuff like that is what movies are made of and I'm sure it would have been a fantastic season, but instead we still don't know where this season is headed. The writers were definitely having more fun (coming up with that voice-over piece) than the audience
Re: Season 5
Yeah the series doesn't seem to have a direction. The last part of this first episode felt like they aren't going to try to go into a storyline, just "same shit, different day". I find some narration parts very insulting. I'm always hearing something stupid like "When you fire a gun, it shoots bullets. Bullets hurt people, so all you need is to shoot at people for them to go away." I hope most of us aren't watching it because of those narrative parts, because the writers obviously think they can just say anything in those sequences, if it's said Michael Westen style.
Re: Season 5
The stuff that happen in the 6months inbetween the seasons is going to be covered in an online comic on the shows website...I wont be reading it but for those who are interested. I like the voice overs its just something I've grown to expect with the show, and sometimes it's useful information since everything they show is pretty accurate

The voice-over narration giving us a glimpse (however accurate) into the spy trade is the main reason why I watch this show. That and Bruce Campbell were the only reasons I tuned in in the first season and now I came to enjoy the character interactions and story-line more and more. But the voice-over is still very high on my list of what I return to Burn Notice for.

Accurate ? Really ?! I think REAL spies would tell you how boring their job is because it's mostly talking and social engineering, not using explosives somewhere in every mission.

Micheal as said several times how boring it is to be spy, that it's like sitting around in your dentist officer all day and every now and then someone tries to kill you. And they've shown them spending weeks just sitting outside a Airport collecting tailplane data. Or sitting at the docks looking for 1 particular crate.
And by Accurate I mean every tip he says in the voice over is something you can duplicate and get the same results if you so incline to do it.

I agree completely. While I think that Michael's account of the spy trade is spiffed up - most spies don't get shot at - I always felt that the tidbits of information he provided sounded realistic. Often times he was using social engineering and talking to get what he needed and shooting and explosions were usually part of the finale only.
The information I enjoyed the most was stuff describing how switchboards of hotels work, how you can tap a phone line, etc. Stuff that isn't secret, but isn't public, wide-spread knowledge either. You know it if you ever worked with or are a spy, because that is your trade. Spy trade isn't shooting guns and explosions, it's knowing how get a call through that for that moment will be hard to trace, etc. And Burn Notice does a good job of enlightening us with this non-threatening, yet in that situation still important, information.
Re: Season 5
Yeah that's the stuff I like about the voice over some common sense information that really only common sense to the minority who need to know those things.
My favorites being that turning computer cleaner upside down can freeze a lock. That you can bulletproof your car using phonebooks (tested on mythbusters and confirmed when they used the weapons in the episode).

Highly doubtfull, I use computer cleaner gas in my airsoft rifles, it's HFC-134a gas that boils into gas at -26°C. A few nights ago I spilled some on my hand liquid form and I don't even had frostbite.
I could always test it ofcourse
Re: Season 5
*checks his own glass-ball* I see that in 5x02 Michael will discover another major cover-up of sorts and will go bananas after whoever it is this time solving the occasional job on the way there....
and don't forget that you need to have seen the Sam Axe movie to get this season... so there's a big storyline ahead i think.
Re: Season 5
The freezing a lock I've seen happen so maybe it's just a certian brand

? wut? The Sam Axe movie was about what led Sam to Miami before season 1. It's not an in-between season 4 and 5 (unless on a tiny plot level). Where did you see that?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

The claim is that the big bad of season 5 will have something to do with why Sam was kicked out of the Army, hence why you need to watch the prequel movie. Translation: somebody whom we've met in the prequel movie will show up and cause trouble for Sam and Michael. My bet is on the kinda cute, rude girl.
Re: Season 5
Yeah, was nice to see Bellick again, this time being a real FBI guy
And I think we're gonna see the new "Big Bad" turn up in next week's Ep.
He's gonna be from the movie, i'm pretty sure... but who could it be? I got nothing
But I don't think it's gonna be the girl causing trouble. My guess is she's the one looking for help.

Yeah seems they started the storyline and keeping the shows name intact
Re: Season 5
I wonder if there will be a time were Micheal does go to far and doesn't comeback from it...granted it be sad since most likly a main character will die in that case.
